[00:00:04.059] So you're a student at Excel High School. [00:00:07.259] Congratulations. [00:00:08.868] In this video, we'll give you tips [00:00:10.960] and info for success on the Excel [00:00:13.189] High School program provided by Gail. [00:00:17.579] We'll cover credits required [00:00:19.638] to graduate, transferring your [00:00:21.728] previously earned credits by submitting the [00:00:23.769] transcript [00:00:25.000] recommendations for completing your self based [00:00:27.190] courses [00:00:28.179] and how to get support when you need it. [00:00:31.818] Let's start with some goals. [00:00:34.158] Students must take a total of 21.5 [00:00:37.179] credits to graduate. [00:00:38.590] Those credits must consist of [00:00:40.649] four English [00:00:41.829] three math, three science, [00:00:44.149] 3.5 social studies and eight [00:00:46.270] elective credits including [00:00:48.348] half credit of health, a half credit [00:00:50.478] of fitness and one finer credit. [00:00:53.168] If you've earned high school credits at any point [00:00:55.399] before this, we can evaluate your transcripts [00:00:57.969] and apply those credits towards your credit total. [00:01:02.548] However, in order to graduate with Excel, [00:01:05.109] at least six of the total credits to graduate [00:01:07.558] must be earned through the Excel High School [00:01:09.620] program that [00:01:11.989] includes one credit of English, [00:01:14.230] one credit of math, one credit of [00:01:16.260] science, one credit of social studies [00:01:18.638] and two elective credits. [00:01:20.778] We'll load these credits for you first and [00:01:22.900] then determine if you need to take any more [00:01:24.909] credits. After we receive your transcripts, [00:01:28.290] your transcript will need to be sent to us directly [00:01:30.680] from your previous school. [00:01:32.659] So we've created a special guide to [00:01:34.689] walk you through how to contact your previous school [00:01:37.058] and ask them to send us your transcript. [00:01:39.558] You can find this guide on the orientation [00:01:41.739] resources page on your learn stage account. [00:01:44.519] Once we have your transcript, we'll send [00:01:46.609] you an email to let you know we have, [00:01:49.069] we'll also load it to the document section [00:01:51.349] of your learn stage profile where you can check [00:01:53.448] for it any time. [00:01:55.730] Now, let's take a look at your courses. [00:01:58.209] You'll notice that your courses are flexible [00:02:00.250] and self paced. You can work on them [00:02:02.549] whenever and wherever you want [00:02:04.859] and you can work on one course at a time [00:02:07.278] or all of them at once. [00:02:08.939] The choice is yours. [00:02:10.319] However, you choose to work, make sure you're [00:02:12.508] using the Google Chrome browser on [00:02:14.788] your computer to ensure your course materials [00:02:17.149] function optimally. [00:02:19.278] When completing your assessment, you have [00:02:21.330] three attempts on quizzes and two [00:02:23.360] attempts on final exams. [00:02:25.409] This gives you a chance to review what [00:02:27.479] you missed and improve on your next attempts. [00:02:30.300] Keep in mind that you have to earn at least [00:02:32.479] a 60% on your final exam [00:02:34.659] to pass the course and earn the credit. [00:02:37.028] Be sure to log in frequently and complete [00:02:39.288] quizzes and exams regularly. [00:02:41.360] The faster you complete your work, the sooner you graduate [00:02:44.278] and you have a maximum of two years to [00:02:46.360] complete all classes for graduation. [00:02:48.860] We recommend completing 3 to 5 quizzes [00:02:51.020] each week to stay on track [00:02:54.118] and we're here to support you along the way. [00:02:56.469] Let's go over a few ways that you can [00:02:58.490] get support while completing your course work. [00:03:01.479] If you have questions about your class content [00:03:03.588] quizzes or exams, you can [00:03:05.669] reach out to the teacher of your course by going [00:03:07.889] to the canvas inbox section on the main [00:03:09.949] menu of your canvas account, starting [00:03:12.270] a message and selecting your course [00:03:14.429] teacher name [00:03:24.058] after you complete and send your message. Your [00:03:26.219] teacher should respond within a few days. [00:03:29.508] If you would like more in depth support with [00:03:31.588] understanding or applying the content in your [00:03:33.649] course, you can schedule a live train, [00:03:35.889] the brain tutoring session. [00:03:37.889] Students can schedule up to 31 [00:03:39.979] hour sessions each week. This is [00:03:42.028] an excellent resource and we highly recommend [00:03:44.159] giving it a try. [00:03:46.699] And lastly, if you have questions about using [00:03:48.770] learn stage or your program details, [00:03:51.020] you can submit to help desk ticket through learn [00:03:53.319] speech. Just open the help desk, [00:03:55.449] click, add, write your message [00:03:57.479] and submit it. [00:03:58.939] We'll work to respond as soon as possible. [00:04:01.349] Typically within 24 to 48 [00:04:03.429] hours [00:04:05.729] for any other assistance, you can reach out to [00:04:07.909] your Excel high school success coach. [00:04:12.099] So now you have what you need to get started. [00:04:15.219] Thanks for watching.
