[00:00:05.009] We're going to be talking about the new enhancements [00:00:07.669] to Gale Literature Resource Center. My [00:00:09.800] name is Amber Winters and I'm a senior training [00:00:11.909] consultant here with Gale today and I'll be working [00:00:14.140] with you. So let's go ahead and take a quick [00:00:16.158] look at our agenda here. First, I just want [00:00:18.250] to review the enhancements before we look [00:00:20.350] in and kind of dive in. Just want to go over what you're [00:00:22.449] going to see. There are some really great [00:00:24.510] enhancements that are very simple but very impactful. [00:00:27.048] So we're going to go through those, then we'll spend [00:00:29.260] time actually walking through the platform seeing [00:00:31.370] some of the different workflows that your patrons or your [00:00:33.509] students might be using. [00:00:35.189] And then at the very end of the session, we should have some [00:00:37.298] time for questions and I have some wrap up contact [00:00:39.679] information for you as well. Again, [00:00:41.848] feel free to ask questions as we move through [00:00:43.889] the session. But I will try to save time [00:00:45.959] at the very end in case there's anything that we weren't able [00:00:47.969] to touch on. [00:00:50.529] So first off, if you're new to Gale Literature [00:00:52.759] Resource Center, just a few basics here for [00:00:54.950] you this is really a holistic approach [00:00:57.450] to researching and learning about literature. [00:00:59.709] We were bringing all of the information related [00:01:01.990] to different works, topics and authors [00:01:04.049] together in one spot here [00:01:06.269] and we do have the ability to browse a platform [00:01:08.448] by either work or topic. We've also included [00:01:10.859] both basic and advanced search as well [00:01:12.969] as a pretty detailed people [00:01:15.150] search. So if you have users coming in looking for [00:01:17.250] individuals, they'll be able to search for [00:01:19.909] a person here as well. [00:01:22.079] We've got a lot of different content types [00:01:24.138] available. So you'll as you would imagine, [00:01:26.379] you'll see the standard biographies and work overviews, [00:01:28.588] literary criticisms. But we also [00:01:30.819] have some great primary sources. We have [00:01:32.959] quite a few full text, literary works [00:01:35.278] in here. We'll be able to take a look at in a second [00:01:37.599] and we also have news and magazines. So we're bringing [00:01:40.019] kind of the current events [00:01:42.099] currently what's going in the world into this resource [00:01:44.558] to make sure that students and users aren't [00:01:46.588] just getting, [00:01:47.879] you know, background information about a text. [00:01:50.239] They're also saying how that text is [00:01:52.299] related to what's currently going on. Maybe it's [00:01:54.379] censorship. Um some things like that, [00:01:56.689] they'll be able to kind of get a feel of how it's currently impacting [00:01:59.138] society and how society itself is impacting [00:02:01.540] the authors and the works. [00:02:04.308] And we do have quite a few different research tools [00:02:06.629] available. These are consistent through the majority [00:02:08.639] of the gale resources. So if you're familiar with [00:02:10.710] any gale resources, you've most likely seen [00:02:12.719] these, but we've got some advanced highlights [00:02:14.899] and notes functionality to help your researchers. [00:02:17.580] We've got Google and Microsoft integration [00:02:19.669] for them to save the information that they find. [00:02:21.784] We have our premade citations built [00:02:23.933] out ready to go for them. We have a topic finder [00:02:26.615] and we have the ability to both translate [00:02:29.054] the text and kind of manipulate it a little bit. [00:02:31.213] So change the font, change the color, things [00:02:33.254] like that. [00:02:34.125] And we will review all of those today once we dive [00:02:36.375] in, but let's go ahead and take [00:02:38.508] a look at our enhancements. I'm really excited to go over [00:02:40.618] these for you today. So if you've been [00:02:42.699] within Gale Literature Resource Center before [00:02:44.758] the enhancements, you'll see the home page looks [00:02:46.949] a lot different now. [00:02:48.479] So we've decided to do at the very top here. We've [00:02:50.618] decided to pull forward featured works [00:02:53.360] and these works, these tiles on this home page change [00:02:55.639] monthly. So every time your user goes in in [00:02:57.689] a new month, they're going to have a different experience [00:03:00.050] and they're going to be able to engage with some different [00:03:02.139] texts, which I think is really valuable to kind of get [00:03:04.319] them researching on their own and kind of [00:03:06.330] extending their own learning. [00:03:08.808] And these do change monthly again and we have a browse [00:03:11.118] works button here. So we've created what's [00:03:13.419] called works, topic pages that kind of [00:03:15.500] pull everything about a work together on one [00:03:17.610] page to really engage your users [00:03:19.729] to make it really easy for them to kind of point and click [00:03:21.770] to where they need to be. [00:03:23.368] And underneath those featured works, we [00:03:25.399] have featured topics here as well. You'll see it's [00:03:27.409] fairly similar. The tiles [00:03:29.729] for our featured works are larger just because there are [00:03:31.868] a lot of featured topics that we pull forward, [00:03:34.469] but these topics will change monthly as well [00:03:37.500] and these topic pages are going to pull forward [00:03:39.939] generally to different themes in literature. [00:03:42.159] We also have different literary movements and [00:03:44.300] genres. [00:03:46.110] So it's kind of again pulling that holistic view [00:03:48.229] together. So if your users aren't necessarily looking [00:03:50.460] for a work, maybe they're interested in. [00:03:52.808] if we pull this forward here, um We [00:03:54.868] have Literature of the Harlem Renaissance is one [00:03:57.000] that we've pulled forward. Maybe they're just interested kind of broadly [00:03:59.610] in that topic. They'll be able to browse [00:04:01.788] through and find content that way as well. So [00:04:03.879] not only are we getting a little more [00:04:05.990] precise with the works, we're also getting [00:04:08.099] a little bit more broad talking about just the different [00:04:10.229] topics and themes that are going to be found in those [00:04:12.429] works. So kind of two fold right here [00:04:14.599] on the home page, they'll be able to browse without [00:04:16.629] even running a search. This is really going to help [00:04:18.699] them just point and click to engage. [00:04:21.209] And if they do decide to hit one of these orange buttons [00:04:23.350] here, either the browse works or the browse [00:04:25.509] topics. They'll be launched here into this [00:04:27.889] kind of second layer of browsing here. [00:04:29.988] So on the left, you'll see, we have our works option [00:04:32.350] and then on the right, we have our topics [00:04:34.588] on the left. The works is a little bit simplified [00:04:37.290] because there are less work to take a look at while topics [00:04:39.809] we have a, a huge collection. So [00:04:41.910] you'll see it is a little more kind of [00:04:43.920] broken up here. [00:04:45.660] But on the, the upper left hand side [00:04:47.699] of each of these pages here, you'll see it's the same [00:04:49.970] and they can toggle back and forth between looking [00:04:52.119] at works and looking at topics. [00:04:54.428] So if they take a look at the topics, maybe [00:04:56.629] find something interesting. But when I jump back to the works, [00:04:58.759] they don't need to hit back and go to the home page. [00:05:01.019] We have that toggle right there on the top of the page. [00:05:03.819] We also have the ability to filter on both [00:05:05.928] of these options. So if they are kind of scrolling [00:05:08.199] through, especially when we're looking at topics. [00:05:10.699] Once we click in, you'll see there is a huge [00:05:12.939] number of topics available. So oftentimes [00:05:15.379] it's helpful just to filter it by something they're looking [00:05:17.500] for. They'll be able to do that on this home page [00:05:19.600] as well. [00:05:21.588] And when they click into any of these tiles or any [00:05:23.649] of these entries, they're going to be pulled forward [00:05:25.720] into topic pages. So we [00:05:27.778] can call them works pages or topic [00:05:29.910] pages, whichever they're going to pull that same [00:05:32.129] bit of content. [00:05:33.500] So when they click in, this is what they're going to see. [00:05:35.528] On the left here, we have a works [00:05:37.548] page for the awakening. [00:05:39.389] And then on the right here, we've got a topic [00:05:41.738] page specific to East Asian literature. [00:05:44.928] And you'll say they look almost identical. One [00:05:47.108] thing I will point out on this left hand side here, when [00:05:49.238] we're talking about a work page is [00:05:51.329] we're going to provide information about that work at the [00:05:53.338] very top. You'll see, we have the author, this [00:05:55.639] is hyperlink, which is why it's blue. We always provide [00:05:57.970] a biography about the author attached to [00:06:00.019] this work page. You have a bit more [00:06:02.059] information when it was publish the genre. [00:06:04.504] And if we have the full text for the work, this [00:06:06.584] is a new feature here. We have a read [00:06:08.774] work button that's going to be found right here at the top [00:06:11.014] of the page and this is going to pull them to the full [00:06:13.225] text of the work. So we'll actually be able [00:06:15.314] to read that right here on our platform as opposed to having [00:06:17.564] to you know, pull a hard copy or have [00:06:19.613] it pulled somewhere else. [00:06:23.230] But other than that kind of background about [00:06:25.809] a work itself, the pages [00:06:27.889] are exactly the same. They have an overview [00:06:29.899] with related topics at the very top here. [00:06:31.970] So giving them kind of a background as [00:06:34.100] well as a a next step where they may [00:06:36.220] want to click to take a look at things [00:06:38.149] underneath that we have results organized [00:06:40.389] by different content types. So you'll see here, [00:06:42.410] literature criticisms and biographies, [00:06:44.879] some will have multimedia materials, [00:06:46.949] primary sources, those are all up [00:06:49.028] here here on this topic page. [00:06:51.980] And then at the bottom here, we've got our results [00:06:54.540] nice and organized so your users can start to [00:06:56.579] click through and they will be able to [00:06:58.629] access this content right here on this home page. [00:07:00.879] So this is kind of moving them [00:07:03.040] forward without searching, especially if you're working [00:07:05.660] in the K 12 arena. If you've got secondary students, [00:07:07.899] you're working with who may not be the best [00:07:10.329] just yet at building their search terms. [00:07:12.459] This is a really nice way for them to gain access [00:07:14.660] to information just by pointing and clicking. [00:07:16.910] Also great. If they have a really broad [00:07:19.040] idea in mind, [00:07:20.790] they can just click into that broad idea [00:07:22.949] and we're going to help them narrow down to the [00:07:24.970] content that they need. So a really [00:07:27.000] clean, simple way to do that right here on this page. [00:07:31.399] Now, let's go ahead and take a look. I think I'm done talking [00:07:33.689] about it. I definitely want us to be able to engage with [00:07:35.879] it and see how everything works here. Oops, [00:07:38.100] almost signed me out. [00:07:39.660] Um Before I do, does anyone have any questions? [00:07:41.959] I haven't seen them pop into the Q and A but I [00:07:43.980] want to make sure I address anything. [00:07:49.129] Ok, I don't see any. So let's go ahead [00:07:51.350] and start taking a look here at this home page then. [00:07:53.670] So this is what they're going to see as soon as they're launched. [00:07:55.829] And again, it looks substantially [00:07:58.350] different than previously. You'll see. We no longer have [00:08:00.959] the featured authors. We're now featuring [00:08:03.269] works and topics on this [00:08:05.358] home page here. [00:08:06.480] But we have kept both our basing [00:08:08.569] an advanced search at the top of the page. Of course, [00:08:10.689] we know a lot of users like to [00:08:12.949] kind of dig right in with whatever search they have. [00:08:15.329] They usually have something specific in mind. We do [00:08:17.480] still include that here. [00:08:19.459] If they are looking for a person for an [00:08:21.480] author or [00:08:22.939] some other literary individual, [00:08:25.309] we have a person search that we have included [00:08:27.338] on this toolbar here. So they'll be [00:08:29.439] able to click into this. So while they won't be able to browse [00:08:31.699] on the home page, I always like to point this out. [00:08:33.869] They can go through a really powerful person [00:08:36.460] search to find the information for the person they're looking [00:08:38.719] for and they can search by the person's [00:08:40.820] name. But what's great is they can also just [00:08:42.918] search by limiters. So maybe they're looking specifically, [00:08:45.219] let's say for Native American, [00:08:47.719] let's say female authors, [00:08:49.840] they have very specific parameters in mind, but [00:08:51.879] they don't have a specific individual, they [00:08:54.070] can run through these search limiters [00:08:56.619] hit search. [00:08:59.369] I know they be pull forward to all of the individuals [00:09:01.649] we have available and they'll be able to click through [00:09:03.759] and kind of take a look at all of this great information. [00:09:06.570] So we have the kind of moved how [00:09:08.658] we explore individuals [00:09:10.798] within this resource. But we do still have it [00:09:13.168] found really simply here on the home page. [00:09:17.928] Now, under that again, we've pulled forward featured [00:09:20.330] works that are going to change monthly [00:09:23.149] and then underneath featured topics that will [00:09:25.250] change monthly here as well. [00:09:27.340] So let's just start off with looking at [00:09:29.379] the featured topics. If I decide to [00:09:31.450] take a look, I'll hit my browse topics button [00:09:33.489] just so we can see all of them here. [00:09:35.779] As I mentioned, we have a lot of topics. [00:09:38.080] So if I just start to scroll down, you can kind of get a feel [00:09:41.349] and all of these things we have here, [00:09:43.899] we've pulled forward to kind of curate the results. [00:09:46.080] So you're going to see those topic pages. [00:09:48.889] So of course, if users don't find exactly [00:09:50.979] what they're looking for through this browse, they [00:09:53.119] can always run a search and they'll pull content that way. [00:09:55.469] But all of these have that pre created [00:09:57.548] topic page to kind of help your users [00:09:59.668] better understand what's going on. [00:10:02.340] And at the top of the page, you'll see they can [00:10:04.349] jump to a specific section if they have something [00:10:06.719] in mind. So maybe it's film, [00:10:08.798] maybe it's about disease, maybe [00:10:10.940] something historical. They're looking for [00:10:13.149] a specific era or a movement. They'll [00:10:15.359] be able to navigate down to that right here on this [00:10:17.500] page. If they prefer to, as [00:10:19.538] opposed to scrolling down [00:10:21.269] again, they can run a search. If they have something [00:10:23.418] specific in mind, they can certainly run a search that [00:10:25.450] way or they [00:10:27.489] can just scroll down and click. So let's click today [00:10:29.629] into mccarthyism and literature. [00:10:32.399] So this is going to be our topic page here. [00:10:34.710] As I mentioned at the top, there's a full overview. [00:10:37.009] This is going to give that [00:10:39.090] background information or that first [00:10:41.219] layer of research to make sure everyone [00:10:43.229] kind of understands where they are, what they're going to [00:10:45.269] be learning about. So you see, I can click [00:10:47.450] to read a full overview [00:10:49.719] as I scroll down here. You'll see it's giving me some [00:10:51.788] different representative works. Our related [00:10:54.250] subjects are going to appear here on this right [00:10:56.389] side. We include some great suggested, [00:10:58.918] suggested topics [00:11:00.969] here as well. So these are nice to kind of [00:11:03.019] move your users forward. If maybe they're a little [00:11:05.129] bit stuck, they don't know where they want to go with [00:11:07.178] their learning. This is a really nice way [00:11:09.570] to get them pointed somewhere else. These suggested [00:11:11.820] topics here, [00:11:14.019] you see, we've got an introduction [00:11:16.580] and again, this is going to provide just some base knowledge [00:11:19.080] for them. [00:11:20.038] Now, to get back to my topic page, I can either hit [00:11:22.080] my back button in my browser or you'll see. [00:11:24.119] I've got a breadcrumb trail here and [00:11:26.210] I can just jump back to mccarthyism and literature. [00:11:30.418] So up top here, we do have again, [00:11:32.639] our related topics. You'll see, some of them are [00:11:34.700] topics, some of them are actually works [00:11:36.899] and this is going to vary just depending on [00:11:39.119] um and what they're taking [00:11:41.440] a look at. Of course some topics may have [00:11:43.558] a lot more works related to them. Some [00:11:46.000] may have just more related topics. So they'll [00:11:48.158] see that under this related section. [00:11:50.649] It looks like we have a question from Casey. [00:11:52.950] What is the citation I saw at the bottom? [00:11:54.989] So yeah, Casey, I can jump back here. So [00:11:57.149] what Casey is referring to if I scroll all the way down [00:11:59.649] on the bottom of any article or any entry, [00:12:02.029] picture video [00:12:03.840] at the very bottom, we do have our source citation [00:12:06.149] here. It's an Mlaap a Chicago [00:12:08.548] or Harvard. So they can click back and [00:12:10.590] forth and they have the ability [00:12:12.668] to copy and paste this. You'll see they have the [00:12:14.759] option to export it to our different [00:12:16.869] tools, things like Google drive, one drive, noodle [00:12:19.070] tools. [00:12:20.609] And we have this again for every single entry that [00:12:22.668] we have. So if they're maybe using a video [00:12:25.048] for you know, presentations they're [00:12:27.090] making or something like that, they can pull the citation [00:12:29.609] for that video as well. And I will [00:12:31.658] also mention the citations are not only [00:12:33.700] found at the bottom of the page, but they're also [00:12:35.840] in our toolbar up top here. So you'll see, I can click [00:12:38.048] into the site button [00:12:40.779] and it pulls me the same information I can click through [00:12:42.918] and choose Mlaap A Chicago or Harvard. [00:12:45.460] And then again, I can either just copy and paste [00:12:47.538] it into a work cited or I can export [00:12:49.879] it to a drive or a, an app, [00:12:51.940] whatever I'm using here. [00:12:57.879] OK. So let's go ahead and jump back again here [00:13:00.000] to our topic page. [00:13:02.849] So scrolling down underneath our overview and [00:13:04.918] our related topics here, [00:13:06.960] we're going to see all of the results we [00:13:09.000] have specifically specifically related [00:13:11.349] to this one topic here. And you see it's [00:13:13.460] pretty narrowed down, you know, we're not getting hundreds [00:13:15.609] of thousands of results and we've kind of done that on purpose [00:13:18.219] because we want this to be a really focused [00:13:20.340] page for users. And as they [00:13:22.369] start to kind of dig deeper and realize they may need [00:13:24.538] more specific information. That's where [00:13:27.019] our, our basic and advanced searches start to come [00:13:29.099] in where they're going to pull more content and they'll be able to [00:13:31.119] see some more specific bits of information. [00:13:33.239] But we've decided to make these [00:13:35.830] topic pages as precise as we can [00:13:38.090] to make sure they can find that information that [00:13:40.139] they need. So you'll see, we've got our literature [00:13:42.330] criticisms, biographies on individuals, [00:13:45.090] scrolling down here, topic and work, overviews, [00:13:47.509] news and reviews, all that good stuff. So [00:13:49.658] we've pulled this all out separately so they can really [00:13:51.989] easily click into what they need. They're not going through [00:13:54.178] a huge [00:13:55.658] a list of content [00:13:57.788] that might not be exactly relevant to what they're looking [00:14:00.000] for, really narrow it down for them. [00:14:02.389] And we do have another question here. How are the featured [00:14:04.599] works and topics selected? [00:14:06.769] So we choose our topics of works based [00:14:08.979] on what's utilized most in the resource, [00:14:11.469] what's studied most. We oftentimes [00:14:13.710] work with customers and work with individuals [00:14:15.940] using the resource to better understand [00:14:17.989] what's being searched, what's being utilized, what's [00:14:20.109] being studied in, you know, secondary [00:14:22.678] school and colleges and universities. [00:14:24.918] So we really base it on a lot of factors [00:14:27.090] but I guess shorts answer is [00:14:29.288] it's based on what's utilized the most and what's [00:14:31.418] studied the most. [00:14:32.779] OK. So let's go ahead and [00:14:35.009] jump back. Now. I want to take a look at what [00:14:37.229] a works page is going to look at. So again, this is [00:14:39.288] our topic page and our works page is [00:14:41.369] going to be similar. [00:14:42.700] So I can do that either by going back to the home [00:14:44.859] page and clicking into browse works or [00:14:46.989] I can just use my Breadcrumb trail again, [00:14:49.190] click into topics and now I've [00:14:51.250] pulled forward to this topics, browse, [00:14:53.359] I can toggle on this left hand side. [00:14:55.830] Remember right now I'm on topics. I want to take a look. [00:14:57.879] Instead it works [00:15:00.529] and they'll, but me forward here and again, you'll [00:15:02.609] see there are quite a few works listed here. [00:15:04.788] Obviously, not every work we have [00:15:06.979] information to is going to be found here. [00:15:09.070] These are the ones again that are most studied, most [00:15:11.279] searched and most used within our resource. [00:15:13.668] If a user can't find information, they're looking [00:15:15.840] for, all they need to do is run a search and they'll find [00:15:17.969] overviews you know, news [00:15:20.389] biographies, all that good stuff related to that topic. [00:15:22.629] These are the ones that we've pulled out that we've seen utilized [00:15:25.070] the most. [00:15:26.668] So again, I can scroll through or this time, [00:15:28.788] let's go ahead and filter by name. So I'm going to [00:15:30.820] look at the crucible since that's kind of related to what [00:15:32.879] we just looked at here. [00:15:34.979] You see, I can start to type here and [00:15:37.058] we've got the crucible. [00:15:40.080] There we go. So this is [00:15:42.239] our works page. OK. At the top of the page [00:15:44.538] again, we have our just basic information [00:15:46.989] here who the author is when it was published [00:15:49.080] the genre. [00:15:50.090] And for this, we do have a full text, which [00:15:52.099] is why you see a read work button here. [00:15:54.279] If you clicked into a work that we currently don't [00:15:56.389] have access to a full text of, [00:15:58.418] you won't see this per this blue button here. [00:16:00.460] So if you click in, you're still going to get all the great information. [00:16:02.820] You just won't have this button [00:16:05.200] before we take a look at that. I want to show you what our biographies [00:16:07.700] look like. So again, remember I mentioned any [00:16:09.928] author we have listed here, we're going to hyperlink [00:16:12.009] to a biography of them. [00:16:14.408] So when we do that here, scroll down, [00:16:16.940] you'll see at the very top, we get this little blue box [00:16:19.178] of information about the individual [00:16:21.349] scrolling down personal information. You'll [00:16:23.489] see awards. What I love is all [00:16:25.629] of these works listed here. So we can kind [00:16:27.849] of start to take a look again if your users are starting to [00:16:29.989] maybe research different works by Arthur Miller. [00:16:32.269] Arthur Miller. they'll [00:16:34.428] be able to do that right here [00:16:36.558] and maybe start researching something else [00:16:40.080] you'll see it's quite hefty. But this [00:16:42.139] is going to just give them a background about him before [00:16:44.259] they get started here. [00:16:46.668] And now let's go ahead and hit my back button so we [00:16:48.678] can stay on that topic page. [00:16:52.889] So um just like our topics, you'll see. [00:16:55.038] We've got our related options here on this [00:16:57.139] right hand side if we want to move forward with this, [00:16:59.599] but I do want to click into our read work so [00:17:01.609] you guys can take a look at what that looks like it actually [00:17:03.969] opens into a different tab. [00:17:06.368] So what's great is your students or your users [00:17:08.588] as they're starting to read through the text, if they need [00:17:10.650] to jump back, maybe to look at a criticism or [00:17:13.029] get a background about a specific section, [00:17:15.049] they're a little bit confused by, they can [00:17:17.098] just toggle back and forth between the tabs we have open. [00:17:21.269] But when they click into this text here, you'll see [00:17:23.618] it's full text, just like [00:17:25.789] I said there. So it's [00:17:27.818] giving all of this information, they'll be able to scroll down [00:17:29.989] and just hit the next button [00:17:31.689] and they'll be able to read all the way through [00:17:35.509] and we can go ahead and close that. [00:17:40.509] And again, if I scroll down, you'll notice this [00:17:42.608] looks [00:17:43.529] nearly identical to that topics, [00:17:45.789] page. You'll see for the crucible, [00:17:47.890] what we have related looks like we have literature, criticisms, [00:17:50.368] biographies, topic and work overviews [00:17:52.568] and then reviews and news. [00:17:55.299] So we'll be able to click through any. Let's go ahead and click [00:17:57.348] into, we'll do topic [00:17:59.559] and work overviews. So if we take a look at all of [00:18:01.598] these, now, I can kind of open up this content [00:18:03.989] bucket. You'll [00:18:06.108] see. We have everything listed here [00:18:08.219] on this right hand side. We have our filters [00:18:10.568] that have been pulled over from the [00:18:13.239] pre enhancement. So we still have access [00:18:15.479] to all of these great filters. We'll [00:18:17.500] be able to click through any of these. Let's just click [00:18:19.618] into um we'll do this one. [00:18:23.989] So when I click in, I still have my explore [00:18:26.019] panel on the right hand side, which is going to give [00:18:28.029] me the option to click into more like this [00:18:30.328] or underneath, it's going to have related subjects. [00:18:32.818] So just like on our topic or [00:18:34.828] our works pages where we have those related subjects, [00:18:37.559] these are a great way to kind of click forward [00:18:39.618] and learn more here. [00:18:42.699] Now, let me show you just a a few tools [00:18:44.900] that I like to point out just so you guys can get your [00:18:46.979] users kind of started and learning [00:18:49.059] as best as possible. First, [00:18:51.068] I do want to show you where our translate feature is [00:18:53.130] found. It's right here under the title [00:18:55.279] page and I know this is utilized quite frequently. [00:18:57.400] So I like to point it out here. It's this first little button [00:18:59.680] here. I can hit translate, I can [00:19:01.789] translate just my article. So just [00:19:03.799] this text here or I can choose to [00:19:05.910] set an interface language. [00:19:07.969] Let's go ahead and jump to Spanish [00:19:11.769] and that's going to change all of my tools here. [00:19:14.108] All my little buttons, my explore panel [00:19:16.309] is now in Spanish. [00:19:18.328] So I can translate either one. If I only [00:19:20.729] want the text of the article itself translated, [00:19:23.189] I can do that or I can translate everything on the screen. [00:19:27.469] But let's go back to English. [00:19:30.439] There you go. [00:19:32.049] In addition to changing [00:19:34.098] the translation, changing the language, we can also [00:19:36.239] increase or decrease the font size, [00:19:39.049] these display options are really great to [00:19:41.068] enhance the accessibility of [00:19:43.108] the resource as well. You'll see we'll be able [00:19:45.289] to choose different colors for a background on our page [00:19:47.509] to make it as easy as possible to read. We [00:19:49.910] also have a few different font options here. [00:19:52.170] We do have a dyslexia font. If your [00:19:54.309] users generally prefer that font, we have it available [00:19:58.180] and we can also change the line letter and word spacing [00:20:00.509] here. So we've really built this out [00:20:02.559] to make it as accessible as possible. Your [00:20:04.618] users can really decide what works best for [00:20:06.719] them. And once they set these preferences, [00:20:08.900] they're going to follow along throughout the session. [00:20:10.959] So they'll be able to access these as needed [00:20:13.559] and they can really easily go back to the default settings [00:20:15.709] here as well [00:20:17.209] and take a look. [00:20:18.689] Another great feature we have here is our listen tool. [00:20:21.009] So that's going to read through this full article for them [00:20:23.818] just going to hit pause here. [00:20:26.348] Um And when I hit that button, you'll see it pulls forward [00:20:28.578] this little player here. So they'll be able to listen [00:20:30.769] to this full text. And what's great is if they [00:20:32.789] translated the article into Spanish, [00:20:35.670] French German, it will read to them [00:20:37.769] in that language. So it's just another [00:20:39.828] layer here if they want to translate, but maybe [00:20:42.088] are still having trouble reading, they want to have it read [00:20:44.309] to them, they can easily hit that listen button [00:20:46.598] and that's available to them. [00:20:48.989] As I mentioned, we are integrated with both. [00:20:51.689] So, so if your students [00:20:54.049] or your users find something really important, maybe [00:20:56.250] they want to use later, maybe they want [00:20:58.410] to share with colleagues or with peers, [00:21:00.799] they'll be able to use these functions right here, [00:21:03.229] either sent to Google Drive or sent to Microsoft [00:21:05.578] one drive and it will retain the full [00:21:07.789] text for them and it will also include the citation. [00:21:10.410] So if they need to take a look back later on, [00:21:12.449] they'll be able to do that. [00:21:14.699] In addition to those features, we also have the ability [00:21:16.910] to get a persistent URL. And I think [00:21:19.049] this is really important. not only [00:21:21.189] for students or users who are kind of pulling [00:21:23.199] content, but also for teachers or librarians [00:21:25.309] or those of you trying to find contents to forward [00:21:27.489] along, you can use this get link at the [00:21:29.519] top of the page [00:21:31.410] and this provides a persistent URL to whatever [00:21:33.818] page you're on. So you can easily [00:21:36.380] copy and paste this, put it in a syllabus, put [00:21:38.529] it on a discussion board, put [00:21:40.868] it wherever you think, it's important to have it on your social [00:21:43.009] media accounts. Um [00:21:45.479] wherever your users are going to access the information, [00:21:48.439] we have this great get link and they'll be pulled to the [00:21:50.479] specific document. And a lot of times we [00:21:52.539] get a question is it's, you know, OK, to share [00:21:54.630] this link out. Yes. [00:21:56.818] If someone clicks into this and they don't have [00:21:58.880] a password for your resource. [00:22:00.920] They won't be able to click all the way through your access. [00:22:03.358] They'll be able to see this page and that's it. And then they'll [00:22:05.449] be prompted for a password or however you authenticate. [00:22:08.140] So it's really a nice way to get content out without [00:22:10.439] having to, you know, save it, print out a [00:22:12.459] bunch of copies, get it out. You can just use this [00:22:14.469] quick get link and send it out that way. [00:22:18.189] And it looks like we've got about eight minutes here and I do [00:22:20.439] have just a little bit more information [00:22:22.519] about some upcoming enhancements that we [00:22:24.608] are going to get out to [00:22:26.650] you guys coming up later in the fall. [00:22:29.390] So, does anyone have any questions about [00:22:31.509] anything while I'm kind of clicking through this? [00:22:33.729] If you do put those into the Q and A [00:22:35.858] and let me just show you these enhancements that [00:22:37.910] are coming. So we're going to be pulling forward primary [00:22:40.299] source and historical document [00:22:42.489] sets within this platform and these sets [00:22:44.709] are going to be housed on different work [00:22:47.160] pages. So, like we took a look at the Crucible [00:22:49.348] today, They're going to be housed on those [00:22:51.439] pages [00:22:52.979] and each set is specifically curated by [00:22:55.000] an academic professional. So they're not [00:22:57.239] um you know, just pulled together [00:23:00.078] by a computer program or something [00:23:02.338] like that. It's an actual individual who's going through [00:23:04.630] and pulling and curating this content and they're [00:23:06.640] going to be related to a specific [00:23:08.689] theme that's prominent in the work. [00:23:10.848] So they'll all be pulled together on this work here. [00:23:13.019] And they're going to include not only the textual documents [00:23:15.489] you would expect for primary sources, but we're [00:23:17.539] also going to have multimedia content here. [00:23:19.630] So your users are going to find the pictures [00:23:21.729] that are really going to supplement what they're learning [00:23:24.449] and they're going to be found right on the works pages. [00:23:28.130] And now again, this isn't here right now. This is coming [00:23:30.549] later in the fall of 2023. [00:23:32.729] I can't tell you exactly when because I'm not, I [00:23:34.920] don't think we have that information just yet, but we're [00:23:37.029] working on it. So you'll start to see this [00:23:39.088] stuff rolling. again, fall [00:23:41.170] 2023 [00:23:44.848] and I've not seen any questions pop up [00:23:46.868] here. So we got about five minutes if you [00:23:48.930] think of any. But let me give you some follow up information. [00:23:51.180] So if you want to dig a little bit deeper in [00:23:53.229] the resource, maybe talk more about the content [00:23:55.650] we have available. We didn't hit that a lot today [00:23:57.719] since we were looking at our enhancements. reach [00:24:00.108] out to your customer success manager. [00:24:27.400] Maybe you wanna take a look at [00:24:29.130] the webinars. We have created the flyers, [00:24:31.430] we have created [00:24:33.459] the resource guide, all that good stuff.
