[00:03:20.938] search based on tuition [00:03:23.068] of course based on the program or degree you're [00:03:25.180] interested in. As well [00:03:27.310] as some other features that come in really handy [00:03:29.509] and not just that, you know, paying for [00:03:31.639] college is [00:03:33.639] can can be a challenge. And what's nice about these tools, [00:03:45.168] It is of course going to offer kind of a traditional [00:03:47.579] two and four year institution search, but then there [00:03:49.610] are specialist searches for distance learning [00:03:51.770] for nursing programs. [00:03:53.538] So they've created some custom search [00:03:55.639] paths for different types [00:03:57.718] of schools. So take a look at those. [00:04:01.038] This resource also has a great resume [00:04:03.430] creator tool. Somebody may be familiar [00:04:05.610] with visual C. V. They offer a lot [00:04:07.908] of great [00:04:10.240] formats for your resume, use kind of input [00:04:12.478] your information. It's also [00:04:14.919] got a lot of great content around [00:04:17.319] writing a resume around writing cover [00:04:19.319] letters, lots of good career advice [00:04:21.838] sections within the resource, so [00:04:24.439] it's gonna kind of give [00:04:26.528] you, the end result, [00:04:28.540] may be that you're looking for a resume. You feel good [00:04:30.600] about sending out to companies and sharing, [00:04:32.730] but also help for getting it to the right [00:04:35.120] hand, right the right companies, finding the places [00:04:37.480] you want to be, even taking it a step [00:04:39.680] further, so it might surround maybe salary [00:04:42.009] negotiation and things like that. [00:04:44.009] So lots of good advice here [00:04:46.060] for those seeking a new career [00:04:48.290] or really just a job change whenever [00:04:50.610] they may be interested in [00:04:53.139] remember. [00:04:54.338] And then also this [00:04:56.490] will help kind of bolster apologize folks again, [00:04:58.620] I have these a bit out of order um finding [00:05:01.110] a career that's best due to do you. So [00:05:03.269] there's a career assessment tool that walks [00:05:05.300] you through, answering [00:05:07.639] once you if you're basically a questionnaire looking [00:05:10.088] for where what type of industry [00:05:12.290] you might be a good fit for, then [00:05:14.319] of course you can dig deeper finding based [00:05:16.838] jobs based sorry, careers [00:05:19.269] based on those assessments and looking [00:05:21.540] at overview. So what's expected out of that [00:05:23.649] job with a salary range, that type of [00:05:25.649] thing. And then there's even a [00:05:27.899] link out to content to search for [00:05:30.100] open positions. So folks who are actively [00:05:32.199] looking for a new job right [00:05:34.379] now you got to see what's out there. [00:05:37.040] So lots of good stuff in this resource [00:05:39.659] and they all kind of fit together nicely. [00:05:42.159] So we want to walk you through how to get to this [00:05:44.209] content, [00:05:45.338] what you can expect from it and kind of putting [00:05:47.579] it to work. So [00:05:49.240] let's go ahead and jump in and navigate the resource. [00:05:52.639] So I've got to have a lot of down here [00:05:54.649] to the homepage and [00:05:56.639] the resource is divided into four [00:05:58.909] categories. Improve your score [00:06:01.060] is a section that's going to [00:06:03.209] allow you to find content to [00:06:06.040] from different tests. [00:06:08.939] So a variety of sections [00:06:11.240] here, we've also got again find [00:06:13.569] our finest school. So we've got [00:06:15.610] the scholarship search information. [00:06:17.660] They're linked to the college planning center, [00:06:19.899] which is really handy. And we're going to dig deeper into [00:06:21.990] these. I just want to give you the basics here. [00:06:24.100] Start there's also the explorers [00:06:26.360] career section that's where you would find the resume [00:06:28.629] builder, the career tools in the [00:06:30.680] life. And that is very protective [00:06:32.990] for vocational test prep. [00:06:35.338] Variety of tests available there. [00:06:37.360] So there's a lot of content here, we [00:06:39.379] won't of course be able to go into everything. [00:06:41.420] So again do share in the chat [00:06:43.649] or the Q. And A. And if there's anything in particular you [00:06:45.720] want to look at. [00:06:47.139] So for library staff, I really [00:06:49.278] like the four boxes here to [00:06:51.329] kind of browse around and see what's here. [00:06:53.579] So, you know, which [00:06:56.180] test prep to do. We have, you know, [00:06:58.209] do we have the firefighter exam? Do we have the asvab [00:07:00.389] you can kind of [00:07:01.639] quickly get the list there. [00:07:04.040] It's also again, a good way to get comfortable [00:07:06.060] with what's here. So again, so you know what to expect, [00:07:08.269] you know, when to recommend this resource. [00:07:10.939] We've also added a search right on the homepage. [00:07:13.139] You can dive right in with a search for, [00:07:15.170] say, S. A. T. And get taken right to that contact. [00:07:18.240] So the search is handy as well. [00:07:20.290] You know what you're after? [00:07:27.139] We've got a question what job boards [00:07:29.259] is the is the job search link [00:07:31.480] to? Great question Diane. [00:07:33.540] And [00:07:35.639] oh, gosh, of course I'll know [00:07:37.750] it. Of course. The minute we pull it up in the resource, [00:07:39.829] let me just actually to get that question answered. What's [00:07:41.980] going to use it? [00:07:43.139] I [00:07:44.838] I'm 90% sure of what it is, [00:07:47.180] but I I don't want to be wrong. [00:07:49.240] So [00:07:50.139] most of the content in this resource [00:07:52.338] is going to require you to create a user [00:07:54.659] account. So actually, let me back [00:07:56.720] up for a second before we go look at what the [00:07:58.790] job search. I believe it's a need dot [00:08:00.810] com. But [00:08:01.838] [00:08:03.540] to create an account, we have a new [00:08:05.550] user sign up for first time users of [00:08:07.670] the resource. [00:08:08.939] And it's very simple, We're not doing [00:08:11.120] anything with the information that we're gathering [00:08:13.389] here. It's really just to create the account [00:08:15.519] because [00:08:16.540] again if you're using test prep, you're taking [00:08:18.649] an online practice example wants you to be able to come [00:08:20.850] back, look at your work, see how you do it, retake [00:08:23.209] exams, the scholarship search [00:08:25.370] tasks for details about [00:08:27.550] you. So things you excel, that stuff [00:08:29.649] like that so we can match you up with [00:08:32.639] scholarships that fit. So you're [00:08:34.730] entering in some information that is going to require [00:08:36.889] what we call a named user account. [00:08:38.840] Your email address is not required. [00:08:41.240] Again, we're not doing anything with the information [00:08:43.298] we're gathering here. You're not going to start getting [00:08:45.440] a bunch of emails from Gale or [00:08:47.548] Peterson. [00:08:48.740] It is the best way though to create [00:08:50.840] your account if you want need might need to be [00:08:52.840] able to reset your password down. [00:08:54.940] So we are tech support can always figure something [00:08:57.240] out for you. But the folks are comfortable. [00:08:59.490] They can share their email address that they don't have. [00:09:02.038] You create a user name and password and then [00:09:04.090] a secret word to reset [00:09:06.190] your password if you need you and your there's [00:09:08.389] no um [00:09:10.440] second step where you have to go to an email [00:09:12.629] and verify or anything. You just have your [00:09:14.778] account created. So very simple [00:09:17.240] and I'm gonna go ahead and log into my account [00:09:20.538] and we will double check. We [00:09:22.658] just feel quick [00:09:24.840] search here. We'll come back and look at this a little closer. [00:09:27.259] But I do want to confirm [00:09:29.139] the resource that we're using. [00:09:32.440] Oh, it's a link up. I apologize folks. I [00:09:34.720] that's why I shouldn't have mentioned [00:09:36.940] for if we believe we used [00:09:38.960] to use indeed that combo with partner. [00:09:42.139] So we go ahead and close out [00:09:44.149] of there, we will come back and look at that job searching closer. [00:09:47.940] Okay, so back to the homepage just clicking the [00:09:49.980] banner there. [00:09:51.440] Now. One of the neat things, another neat thing [00:09:53.460] really about having the names user account aside [00:09:55.590] from being able to kind of keep track of what you're doing here [00:09:58.240] is on the home page, you're able to [00:10:00.528] identify favorites things you're kind of going [00:10:02.600] back to again and again. So if I'm [00:10:04.940] coming in pretty regularly and working on different resumes, [00:10:07.580] I can make that one of my favorites [00:10:09.908] on the homepage. If I'm walking through in this case [00:10:12.639] some basic skills math tutorials, I can [00:10:14.668] add them right here and I'll show you how to create [00:10:17.028] these favorites. But it's a nice [00:10:18.840] quick way to get back to what you were doing [00:10:20.990] in this resource if you is coming back [00:10:23.250] again and again. [00:10:25.538] So I'm gonna start with improve [00:10:27.820] your sports section and we'll look at a few of the items [00:10:29.918] there, we'll walk through all these others, um [00:10:32.149] as well. But again, do feel free if there's nothing in particular [00:10:34.629] you want to see, let me know [00:10:36.940] so improve your score again is is a [00:10:38.960] lot of um test prep. [00:10:41.009] But also we've got a section I think [00:10:43.120] that doesn't get talked about enough and that's [00:10:45.168] the foundational skills tool. So [00:10:47.470] this isn't quite, it isn't specific [00:10:49.710] to any [00:10:50.840] certain exam, but it's to kind of [00:10:52.980] prep you for taking almost any of these [00:10:55.200] exams. So maybe a basic [00:10:57.428] skills math tutorials, I'm sure that's [00:10:59.570] something I could use at any point. Right? [00:11:01.620] And it's going to help prep me for any sort of math that [00:11:03.649] maybe on some other certification [00:11:06.019] exam or something like that. [00:11:08.538] You've got basic english and writing tutorials. [00:11:11.259] Uh there are question banks kind of gets [00:11:13.389] you in the habit of answering questions. [00:11:16.139] So this is a really excellent piece of [00:11:18.200] the resource also where you can [00:11:20.200] find our Microsoft office tutorials. [00:11:22.440] So something folks can do online from [00:11:24.528] home [00:11:25.440] on to learn a bit more about how to use Excel [00:11:27.690] word PowerPoint, [00:11:29.538] any of these. And you may notice [00:11:32.440] these ones that have the little gold star that's [00:11:34.690] because I've added them to my favorite. [00:11:36.788] So just [00:11:38.038] looking that little star, [00:11:40.240] we'll add that item to your favorites on the homepage. [00:11:42.710] So again, if it's something you're going to come back to again [00:11:44.720] and again, the right way to find those [00:11:47.110] easily, right on the homepage when you come into [00:11:49.288] the resource. [00:11:51.340] So a lot of great content [00:11:53.360] here can again help you prep for any other [00:11:55.399] tests you're going to use. But also just [00:11:57.399] good practice you know tutorials for [00:11:59.528] for for students for [00:12:01.808] for adults who could maybe just use a little [00:12:03.850] help in those areas feel a little bit more confident. [00:12:07.840] But we've also got of course kind of the classics [00:12:10.840] for test prep. As I mentioned the [00:12:13.000] S. A. T. The A. C. T. And so on. We've [00:12:15.149] got exams to prep for different high school [00:12:17.509] exams. So if you [00:12:19.570] are in a school setting maybe have [00:12:21.590] a p courses. We've got a lot of [00:12:23.649] test prep for ap [00:12:25.940] I'm the list here [00:12:27.840] and we are going to dive into some of these online tests. [00:12:29.908] I can show you what they look like and what kind of show you around [00:12:32.110] a little bit here with some other high school equivalency [00:12:34.658] exams. [00:12:36.740] So on some of these are state specific. [00:12:40.240] Okay we're gonna go into college prep here in [00:12:42.269] a second. So we've also got test prep [00:12:44.308] for grad school. [00:12:45.940] He's looking at that passed through the various [00:12:48.028] uh the G. Net and G. [00:12:50.240] R. E. But then the elsat for [00:12:52.538] specific [00:12:54.139] types of graduate degrees and [00:12:56.158] so on. [00:12:57.740] Sorry folks. [00:12:59.940] And then our international test prop you'll find [00:13:02.408] our total and uh [00:13:04.860] we say to each a measure exams [00:13:07.389] as well as the U. S. Citizens of exams [00:13:09.519] can help [00:13:10.639] what's going to happen. [00:13:11.740] But one of the ones I always like to highlight [00:13:13.820] because it is the [00:13:17.340] most used in the resource. Our college [00:13:19.759] prep exams. So A. C. [00:13:21.899] T. S. A. T. As I mentioned. But we've also got clep [00:13:24.168] exams accuplacer DSST. [00:13:26.288] And so on. [00:13:28.840] And what's really I think [00:13:32.139] especially nice about two of these exams [00:13:34.408] here the A. C. T. And the S. A. T. [00:13:36.720] Along with the online practice [00:13:39.178] tests [00:13:40.340] and the book content. These also [00:13:42.870] have online courses to go [00:13:45.000] along with them. [00:13:46.639] So I remember taking one of these in high [00:13:48.759] school I was I was lucky. It was you know an afternoon [00:13:51.298] at school it wasn't something we had to pay for but [00:13:53.379] not everybody else is as lucky. [00:13:56.038] So S. A. T. Prep can [00:13:58.070] cost some money. It also takes up time [00:14:00.370] right that everybody has that. [00:14:02.840] So the S. A. T. Online course within [00:14:05.360] uh Gale presents Peterson's test and [00:14:07.548] career prep, that's a mouthful. Um [00:14:10.120] Is a great way for folks to do this on their [00:14:12.129] own time at no cost. So [00:14:14.308] they come into the resource. It can work [00:14:16.370] through this course as needed. [00:14:18.740] And it provides tutorials. [00:14:21.149] You know it's not just um [00:14:23.940] kind of content around [00:14:25.740] the exam questions [00:14:27.750] around preparing for the exam kind of knowing [00:14:29.918] what's there. So you take a pre assessment, you [00:14:32.009] work through the program let's [00:14:34.110] see how you do at the end as well. [00:14:36.240] But it's a great way to get comfortable taking [00:14:38.440] the exam without kind of the pressure of [00:14:40.450] the practice exam itself. So [00:14:42.879] again getting more comfortable knowing what to expect [00:14:45.330] out of the exam. [00:14:48.240] But again our most popular piece in the [00:14:50.250] resource are the online practice test themselves. [00:14:52.690] So let's say this is something I'm gonna keep coming back [00:14:54.850] and revisiting. So I'm gonna go ahead and add it [00:14:56.940] to my favorites. But that little gold star there [00:14:59.940] and when you come into the exam, you may notice [00:15:02.070] it's opened up in a new tab or window depends [00:15:04.129] on your browser's behavior. But it's [00:15:06.149] nice because you've got the database there if you need it, maybe [00:15:08.379] we want to go back and quick check into the book or something [00:15:10.798] that's right there for us. We've got the test [00:15:13.000] open as well And you can see I've done some [00:15:15.139] work before. I will caution you [00:15:17.200] that I randomly answer questions [00:15:19.210] on these exams. So I'm not doing so great [00:15:21.428] in my [00:15:22.639] migrating of my practice [00:15:24.690] exams. But [00:15:26.340] um we'll see how I want to show you how this works. [00:15:28.610] So if you look to the left hand side [00:15:30.808] there, basically we've got the practice practice [00:15:32.960] exams labeled as they would be [00:15:35.149] in the actual test. And generally [00:15:37.220] you're going to have three practice tests. [00:15:39.710] Uh in most cases for most [00:15:41.830] of the exams in the resource [00:15:44.399] in the handful where we only have one or two. [00:15:46.408] But our goal is to have at least three exams [00:15:48.730] for folks to take because it's not good to keep taking the [00:15:50.820] same practice test over and over. That's [00:15:52.950] one of the things [00:15:54.038] you learn in the in the S. A. T. [00:15:56.139] prep eBook, [00:15:58.038] you don't want to get in the habit, you know, start [00:16:00.168] memorizing answers. It's, you know, [00:16:02.379] it's about learning so it is good [00:16:04.470] to take these, [00:16:06.740] oh and actually it looks like for the S. A. T. We've added [00:16:08.820] some more examples here. So that's what [00:16:10.820] I get for, not strolling down when I was prepping for [00:16:12.820] the webinar the other day, but we've got [00:16:14.950] more practice this year, so climbing for [00:16:17.009] the S. A. T. Better to not take them over [00:16:19.139] and over and you will be able to keep track [00:16:21.259] of all your scores from these [00:16:23.350] sections as well. [00:16:25.139] So let's take a look at how these work. I'll go ahead [00:16:27.190] and jump into say a math section [00:16:31.240] and you give a little introduction. You don't [00:16:33.360] just drop right into the exam, it kind [00:16:35.428] of gives you a little instruction here on how this test [00:16:37.759] is going to work. So then we can choose [00:16:40.009] to start the quiz [00:16:43.538] and [00:16:45.139] this is going to mimic the real world [00:16:47.278] test. [00:16:48.340] So you're working with pages, you can [00:16:50.399] see those in kind of the middle column on the [00:16:52.460] page here. And as you [00:16:54.519] work through, you can see which pages you've completed. [00:16:57.200] Uh you can go back and change [00:16:59.720] answers, things like that as you're taking the exam, [00:17:02.100] it's saving your work as you go [00:17:04.190] through. But you can always come back [00:17:06.500] and make a change has me, [00:17:09.140] so it's going to randomly select [00:17:11.460] some answers here. [00:17:14.140] And as you're working through [00:17:17.440] again, it's going to make that real world exam. [00:17:19.880] So we select our answer and then [00:17:21.980] move on to the next page. Let me get a page [00:17:24.230] here. Granted you can notice there [00:17:26.288] in that middle problem as I'm answering questions, [00:17:28.519] I get a little check mark. Right? So it's a quick [00:17:30.740] visual way to make sure you've kind [00:17:32.940] of done your war. So you keep moving [00:17:35.078] through to the next page. [00:17:37.240] But again, can always go back. Maybe, oh, [00:17:39.430] you know what that question number five on page [00:17:41.450] one, I want to go back [00:17:43.338] make an adjustment. [00:17:45.140] You're not committed to your answers [00:17:47.338] until you choose the submit [00:17:49.390] quiz yet. You just keep moving [00:17:51.650] through the pages [00:17:53.440] answering questions. [00:17:55.940] And just in the interest of time I'm going [00:17:57.960] to go ahead and scroll down, let's say I've [00:18:00.038] gone through all these pages I've done, [00:18:02.240] I'm going to jump to the last page. Last question. [00:18:05.940] Right, [00:18:07.240] just a five, I'm [00:18:09.410] sure in close. Uh, and that is [00:18:11.578] you submit the quiz. [00:18:15.240] It is uh [00:18:17.338] right, that's not working. It [00:18:19.470] is going to give me a little warning. I have missed [00:18:21.470] some questions. Right? So [00:18:23.538] I've missed several, but this is really handy [00:18:25.798] if you're just accidentally maybe skipped over [00:18:27.960] one, which you know, kind of a scrolling [00:18:30.170] list could be easy to do, [00:18:32.240] but we're not going to go back and answer is [00:18:34.240] and we'll leave it as is So you get a little confirmation [00:18:36.730] before you've submitted to have the test. Great [00:18:39.940] apologist, [00:18:41.038] I work for a minute and then immediately [00:18:43.380] puts you in a review so you can go back through [00:18:45.710] and see how you did. [00:18:47.338] And what's nice is for each question [00:18:49.338] we can see here the question was it looks like [00:18:51.380] randomly selecting answers is not the way to go, [00:18:53.900] but I got mine wrong. I selected [00:18:56.078] a B was the correct question. [00:18:58.088] If you open up the feedback [00:19:00.098] option, you can see why that was the [00:19:02.118] answer. [00:19:03.140] So you get an explanation and you can [00:19:05.259] just keep working through [00:19:07.640] the entire exam, seeing how you [00:19:09.640] did it. It looks [00:19:11.818] like these random guesses. Oh, I got lucky [00:19:13.900] on questioning, [00:19:15.740] but most cases [00:19:18.088] it was not for yeah Rachel [00:19:20.538] that we can work through, [00:19:22.640] you see, I'm here. [00:19:24.740] So let me just check the chat with you and they quickly [00:19:27.028] see if anything's come in. [00:19:30.140] Oh, excellent day, I love to hear yes. The feedback [00:19:32.440] feature is really great. That immediate [00:19:35.038] kind of learning you can do when [00:19:37.250] you come wrong with a with a question or method [00:19:39.710] or you know, whatever it may have been the thing that's [00:19:41.900] really handy. [00:19:44.240] Now if we jump back, I'm gonna go ahead and click [00:19:46.250] here in the upper left hand corner, back to content [00:19:50.240] when you're on this page. Mostly folks [00:19:52.380] are jumping right into the practice test But I wanted [00:19:54.480] to point out when you use no little annotate tool here [00:19:58.538] that you can work through the [00:20:00.588] different kind of options with the practice. [00:20:03.078] Well, I shouldn't say option the different features [00:20:05.259] for the practice test within [00:20:07.500] it as well. So if you want to go back and review [00:20:09.538] grades for tests you've taken, [00:20:11.730] there's a quizzes section for that. [00:20:13.730] You can, of course, you know, go to the brain section. [00:20:16.380] Uh There is a [00:20:18.528] class progress which is handy [00:20:20.630] and then a system check. [00:20:22.538] The requirements for this resource are not [00:20:24.588] are pretty basic, but just in case you can [00:20:26.848] always take advantage of that. So this [00:20:28.920] will let you explore uh the [00:20:31.068] features of the exam as well. So I'd like to point [00:20:33.180] out that banner because really the focus is, [00:20:35.640] you know, on the practice test and that's where most folks [00:20:37.778] go. But if they want to kind of look at past history [00:20:39.980] of the exam, [00:20:41.240] you've got those sections up here to work with. [00:20:44.240] We gotta be clear these out. [00:20:47.740] Now. A question we get for the exams [00:20:50.108] in some cases is [00:20:52.230] um if you're working in a school setting [00:20:54.440] or really just stay, a student wants [00:20:56.509] to check their work with their teacher, I have a question, [00:20:58.700] you can print from the exam results, [00:21:01.000] but sometimes um if maybe [00:21:03.078] it's been given as assignment to take, [00:21:05.200] you know what uh Yeah practice [00:21:07.420] test or something like that and you want [00:21:09.740] to uh [00:21:12.038] share what you've done so far if we go into [00:21:14.130] class progress and click [00:21:16.140] on quizzes, you can see all of your attempts [00:21:18.618] at the various exams [00:21:20.440] and how well you've done. So this is something [00:21:22.868] that a student can print out and share with the future. [00:21:25.328] There isn't really a future for someone else [00:21:27.430] to come in and look at anyone else's account. [00:21:30.220] But this finding the content [00:21:32.519] just food. Got a nice print option here [00:21:34.730] at the top of the page for an ice cream print. [00:21:36.759] But you can share results that way with others. [00:21:39.318] Uh If you like. [00:21:43.240] So lots of good stuff there and really all [00:21:45.368] the tests are gonna mimic that same experience. [00:21:47.960] So if we go ahead I do want out we're going to kind of [00:21:49.980] jump over the uh find a school and [00:21:52.068] explore careers for a minute and go right [00:21:54.118] to the vocational test prep. [00:21:56.140] This is going to give us really [00:21:58.269] the same format of exams but each [00:22:00.460] of them are going to have their own kind of tools. [00:22:02.630] So kind of scroll of it here. You [00:22:04.769] can see there's a broken down by category. [00:22:06.890] So if I jump to say military, we [00:22:09.230] do have the asvab but then we've added some [00:22:11.230] recent ones over the years or in some cases e [00:22:13.338] books to support for example the military [00:22:15.358] flight aptitude [00:22:16.640] test. E book. When you select [00:22:18.970] an e book it immediately prompts [00:22:21.130] you to download a pdf [00:22:23.940] and then you can I apologize. What's up publishing [00:22:26.088] on this already open but don't look up pretty quick. [00:22:28.838] You've got that pdf to work with [00:22:32.338] and that's yours. It's there's no real check [00:22:34.490] in or check out. It's it's not like it's going to disappear [00:22:37.019] off you say if you put this on your own device [00:22:39.298] um you know if you downloaded it for offline [00:22:41.670] use you're going to go any time. It [00:22:43.730] doesn't disappear from your device after a couple [00:22:45.930] of weeks. It's not like an an overdrive e book [00:22:48.150] or anything like that. This is really just yours to then [00:22:50.259] use however you see fit and [00:22:52.269] what's nice about the books is again [00:22:55.038] you've got the practice test that always appear [00:22:57.140] at the back of the book and you know you would have [00:22:59.160] to do the grading yourself. It's not like the online [00:23:01.509] practice test but you also get all of [00:23:03.608] the content that perhaps you for the [00:23:05.640] exam. [00:23:06.640] So you can study with it. You learn more [00:23:08.720] about how the test is administered. All [00:23:10.759] of that information [00:23:12.838] that you folks are really great. [00:23:15.140] But if I go ahead and say jump into master the [00:23:17.180] asvab [00:23:18.338] it's going to give me the option to [00:23:20.480] again download that book and take advantage. [00:23:22.740] You can have unlimited downloads with this content [00:23:25.940] which fall down a bit. [00:23:27.640] We've got an as we have prep course [00:23:30.538] jump into that and you'll see it mimics the [00:23:32.558] [00:23:35.940] oh we have a bad one there. [00:23:37.980] I'm gonna have to investigate that. This is what I get for randomly [00:23:40.230] selecting instead of going with Maya. [00:23:42.940] of course. Let's see if this one [00:23:48.538] larry, that's what I was looking for. So mimics what [00:23:50.558] we saw would be S. A. T. Prep course as [00:23:52.598] well. Nice [00:23:54.980] familiar tools as you move between them. [00:23:57.640] But you can again just kind of take a look [00:24:00.000] again, it's about to get comfortable relax [00:24:02.068] here. So we've got different military exams, firefighter, [00:24:04.568] law enforcement, [00:24:06.038] um postal exams, real estate [00:24:09.240] got a lot of options here and [00:24:12.640] again, unlimited use here. So folks can come [00:24:14.808] in and take advantage of [00:24:16.838] uh and all the e book content, the prep [00:24:19.028] course to practice us and so on. [00:24:21.338] And they're all going to follow that same format [00:24:26.240] already. So let's take a look now. [00:24:28.318] We're going to jump back to find a school [00:24:30.328] and the finest school tool again, as I mentioned [00:24:32.680] is going to give different options. It's not just [00:24:34.940] about finding a school. [00:24:37.338] What does I'm clicking on things in it. [00:24:39.338] There we go. Um The college [00:24:41.608] and scholarship search pages going to offer [00:24:43.940] us of course college searches but [00:24:46.240] also the the uh scholarship [00:24:48.509] search which is a great way [00:24:51.440] to find what's out there, right? It can be overwhelming [00:24:54.200] to go online and look for scholarships [00:24:56.430] search. So what's nice about this is [00:24:58.578] the scholarship searches searches [00:25:00.588] have been indexed by different [00:25:03.380] uh filters. So if you look over [00:25:05.400] on the left hand side, you can look [00:25:07.720] for awards based on school type, [00:25:09.990] ethnicity, gender. [00:25:13.338] Right? So again, this is where we need that, why [00:25:15.430] you're creating a user account, You're answering [00:25:17.588] some questions about yourself. In [00:25:19.720] this case, you've also got [00:25:21.858] the ability to um narrow [00:25:24.028] by a few more items to your area [00:25:26.430] of study is always a good one. So I [00:25:28.470] was interested in a particular program and [00:25:30.818] as you select over on the left was [00:25:32.900] quite, and perhaps the earth science, [00:25:34.740] it filters to scholarships on the right [00:25:37.240] and then we can jump in, [00:25:39.940] read a bit more about this labyrinth stem [00:25:42.019] scholarship, [00:25:44.140] get some backgrounds, find out how [00:25:46.150] to apply [00:25:47.740] how much money they're giving out. [00:25:50.640] More companies, [00:25:53.838] find a school will do the same thing [00:25:55.900] for the different college searches. So if I jump [00:25:58.220] into say the undergraduate school search, [00:26:01.538] it's going to again offer filters [00:26:03.568] over on the left. We can break down by location. [00:26:06.278] So for example, I live in new york state. So [00:26:09.640] in state tuition is always nice [00:26:11.858] to go ahead and grab the new york [00:26:14.038] and you can choose multiple. So this as [00:26:16.038] well. So it's going maybe I'm also interested [00:26:18.390] in massachusetts [00:26:21.440] go ahead and select and over [00:26:23.618] on the right. It just keeps filtering and working [00:26:25.778] with the choices that you've made [00:26:27.950] over on the left, the area of study. [00:26:30.440] And what I like about these is you [00:26:32.578] can certainly scroll these lists. [00:26:34.598] But as you start to type, [00:26:37.240] it will match you up so you don't have to scroll [00:26:39.640] these entire lists. So [00:26:41.910] if I'm looking to say a few different biology careers, [00:26:45.140] go ahead and select [00:26:47.440] and again, don't have to ah [00:26:51.440] use the uh [00:26:53.640] uh just a pick list [00:26:56.338] and you can work on things, [00:26:58.410] you know, area of study location of the [00:27:00.509] corporate standards. But I like some of these other [00:27:02.680] choices as well, something like setting, [00:27:05.140] you know, um If I, which I did [00:27:07.390] grow up in a small town, maybe I want to [00:27:09.588] mimic that experience or [00:27:11.778] maybe I'm looking to really [00:27:13.900] kind of jump up and and [00:27:16.019] change my, my setting [00:27:18.019] quite a bit. I could maybe add in urban and [00:27:20.328] again as I'm making this election just over [00:27:22.420] on the right. It's narrowing gun showing me [00:27:25.338] various schools [00:27:27.240] and if you jump in, [00:27:29.940] if anybody used remembers using [00:27:32.009] or have them on the shelf in your library. [00:27:34.150] Those, you know, big thick Peterson's [00:27:36.348] college books. [00:27:37.838] That's what you're getting here. You're finding [00:27:40.098] all of the details. If you look over on the left, [00:27:42.250] you've got kind of a table of contents to work through. [00:27:44.470] So jump into state tuitions and [00:27:46.470] fees, find out about their financial [00:27:48.838] aid situation. [00:27:51.038] We got there interesting statistics here. [00:27:53.210] I don't remember these in the books back when I [00:27:55.358] was using them, but I love to see this [00:27:57.420] data. So average percentage of financial [00:27:59.519] need met. Um you know, [00:28:01.568] I think it's important that financial [00:28:03.990] aid piece is so important nowadays. You [00:28:06.400] get all your details around campus sleight [00:28:08.509] of athletic programs, faculty and, [00:28:10.880] and so on. [00:28:12.038] So lots of good data. And if you haven't [00:28:14.250] been in this resource in a while and [00:28:16.630] you're using this session is a little kind of refresher. [00:28:19.740] Uh again, I encourage you to kind of come [00:28:21.769] in here and look around. There's a lot more [00:28:23.930] um, things a lot more visually appealing [00:28:26.160] than it used to be and it's more modern. [00:28:28.509] We're linking out to their facebook page, pulling [00:28:31.019] in tweets, um, for some schools. [00:28:33.130] So really kind of engaging way [00:28:35.278] to look for school and you're not getting bombarded [00:28:37.640] with ads. Right? So a nice [00:28:40.140] feature and working through library [00:28:42.440] resources is no ads. [00:28:44.568] So lots of good stuff. [00:28:47.440] So let's go ahead and take a look at a few more of these [00:28:49.490] college search options. [00:28:51.838] So again, we have for graduate programs, [00:28:54.240] but also specific types of schools. So [00:28:56.240] graduates, uh, distance learning [00:28:58.500] search, you're looking to go to school online. [00:29:01.240] And again, these are all gonna mimic and work the same [00:29:03.240] way just over on the left. You take advantage of the filters [00:29:05.730] that will match you up with schools on the right [00:29:09.538] Oh pretty. [00:29:12.338] And one piece I would like to show off [00:29:14.568] here is the college framing center also [00:29:16.930] underlined the school. What it does is [00:29:19.048] kind of gather together [00:29:21.338] all of the different tools and the resources, [00:29:23.818] but all of the different sources to help [00:29:26.028] plan for college. And really [00:29:28.298] it pulls in a lot of the career stuff [00:29:30.460] too. So it's all [00:29:32.848] one nice place. This is something again, [00:29:34.980] if you're in a school setting, show [00:29:37.068] this off during parent open houses, [00:29:39.180] this is really great content certainly [00:29:41.519] could be put to great use in the guidance [00:29:43.618] office as well. [00:29:45.440] But you've got all of the kind of help [00:29:47.528] and advice articles that come along with [00:29:49.618] choosing a career and and finding [00:29:52.048] the right college. They've even created these checklists [00:29:54.670] for both parents and students. [00:29:56.838] So what should I be doing as a parent of a [00:29:58.880] kid who was in 11th grade. [00:30:01.240] And what I like about the advice content [00:30:03.318] is it's kind of these quick [00:30:05.240] um articles. They're not, you know, lengthy, [00:30:07.630] lengthy, lengthy tones. It's just good [00:30:09.769] stuff to know, kind of breaking it down to the most [00:30:11.828] salient point. [00:30:13.440] So the college planning center I think is a really [00:30:16.150] useful piece in the resource. It links [00:30:18.210] out to test, you might need to take it offers. [00:30:20.608] Again, a lot of advice links out to various [00:30:22.970] searches. It just kind of pulls all [00:30:25.078] that content to one place. So excellent [00:30:27.640] resource to point both students [00:30:29.930] and parents to the college planning [00:30:32.108] center again, found it or find a school. [00:30:35.940] All right. So the last section we're going to take a look [00:30:38.190] at and spend our time in is explore [00:30:40.190] careers because it kind of the second most [00:30:42.269] used piece of this resource [00:30:44.140] is these career tools, [00:30:46.200] most specifically the resume builder. [00:30:49.140] I want to jump into the career tools [00:30:51.740] and the first thing that's gonna want you to do. [00:30:54.058] Sorry folks, I seem to have to keep clicking my mouse [00:30:56.450] twice. [00:30:57.640] Um when you're working with this section [00:30:59.680] here [00:31:01.038] to find a career [00:31:02.690] that I had to use that. This is where you're [00:31:04.740] going to find those career assessments. So [00:31:06.778] to help you find [00:31:08.940] the industry, the job that might suit you [00:31:11.019] best. You are going to have to participate [00:31:13.170] in the first two assessments, [00:31:15.720] the ones related to interests and values. [00:31:18.009] So I've gone ahead and done that ahead of time [00:31:20.450] so we can kind of take a look at what happens [00:31:22.660] after. But I do want to show you how these [00:31:24.818] assessment work because there are [00:31:26.950] four of them [00:31:28.338] and a lot of career assessments just kind [00:31:30.509] of asked you know, would you like to do this job? [00:31:32.769] Would you like to do that job? And you know that make [00:31:35.240] you know the judgements based on what you said yes [00:31:37.269] to, you know, that's one [00:31:39.269] way to do it. What I like about these assessments [00:31:41.828] is it kind of comes at it from different [00:31:44.700] path, [00:31:46.140] certainly wants to know your interest. But then it also [00:31:48.190] wants to know more about your values, your personality [00:31:50.750] and your workplace preferences because these [00:31:52.880] are going to impact the type of career you might fit [00:31:54.910] best in as well. [00:31:56.538] And what I also like about these is they're really engaging, [00:31:59.098] It's not just a bunch of multiple choice [00:32:01.308] questions, so I [00:32:03.358] think there is one that is multi, [00:32:05.038] but I think maybe the interest, but if [00:32:07.058] we're going to see a workplace preferences [00:32:10.538] use your little, you know, instruction on how this [00:32:12.608] is gonna work, but and jump in. [00:32:15.538] It's asking questions and [00:32:17.598] then it's a little more interactive than just [00:32:19.618] like selecting answers. So in this case, [00:32:22.338] uh which of these statements are [00:32:24.420] the four least important for you to [00:32:26.460] have in your ideal organization. So [00:32:28.558] thinking about the place you're going to work, what is [00:32:30.630] not that important to you [00:32:32.740] and then you go through and just grab each [00:32:34.828] of these, you move on to the next page and it will, [00:32:37.038] it goes through what would be most important [00:32:39.480] and you're kind of ranking them in order, [00:32:41.640] So it's engaging. But it also kind of really [00:32:43.818] makes people think critically about [00:32:46.308] their their needs and their wants [00:32:48.808] in this case, in the workplace or again [00:32:50.980] around values and the like, so we [00:32:53.288] do encourage folks to answer [00:32:55.598] all four [00:32:57.440] assessment sections, but again, [00:32:59.759] you really just have to take the first [00:33:02.038] two, so assessment interests and assessment [00:33:04.440] values, you're going to have to work through [00:33:06.838] and [00:33:08.140] then what you're gonna get is [00:33:10.538] I just pointed out here [00:33:12.640] is the option to explore your career matches. [00:33:15.098] So by answering those questions, [00:33:17.098] what does it think I'm well suited for? [00:33:19.538] And if we jump in, [00:33:22.640] I ranked highest in science [00:33:25.118] Engineering and Mathematics, which surprised me [00:33:27.400] education, which did not [00:33:29.630] health science and so on. Going [00:33:31.940] through here [00:33:32.940] and we're just seeing where you kind of landed [00:33:35.160] with these broad categories. So these by these [00:33:37.230] subject areas, we can always get to everything. [00:33:39.440] View all careers, [00:33:41.140] explore things that maybe didn't come up [00:33:44.240] All right, you know what you say, it's fast. So [00:33:46.358] if you all careers allows you to get to everything, [00:33:48.940] but if we go ahead and choose, I'm gonna grab, say, new [00:33:51.220] careers in education, [00:33:53.038] it matches you up with the career overviews [00:33:55.490] that fall into that subject area and [00:33:57.558] over on the left again, we've got filtered. [00:34:00.140] And what I like about this is [00:34:02.180] you can filter too, [00:34:04.440] your education experience experience [00:34:06.630] level. So if if my ultimate [00:34:09.070] goal is to go into education and maybe [00:34:11.150] that's going to require a Master's program, [00:34:13.190] what could I do right now with a bachelor's [00:34:15.590] degree, what could I do right now with [00:34:17.610] just, you know, maybe a g E D. Or something [00:34:19.880] like that, you get almost this kind [00:34:21.940] of career ladder. So maybe while I'm [00:34:24.039] going to school for my masters, [00:34:26.539] I could be doing some of these other tasks, the [00:34:28.550] kind of things I might be well suited for and qualified [00:34:31.039] for right now, [00:34:32.440] while I'm working towards that ultimate goal [00:34:34.940] that elementary [00:34:36.440] and you can see you can add favorites here. So something [00:34:38.840] looks good. You think, you know, that's something you want [00:34:40.840] to explore. You can add it to your favorites. [00:34:43.840] Right? Roll through here as well. [00:34:47.940] You can look at these [00:34:49.139] and each of them are going to and go and [00:34:51.289] jump into one. [00:34:53.739] These will be, you know, kind of familiar breaks down [00:34:55.768] with the job description is programs you may [00:34:57.849] need to be in uh degrees, you [00:34:59.929] may need to have what skills you'll, [00:35:02.050] you'll uh using the job [00:35:04.610] you look over to the right there. Often [00:35:06.800] career videos you can link into and learn [00:35:08.889] more average salary [00:35:10.940] about look which is interesting search [00:35:13.429] for available jobs and that's going to go ahead [00:35:15.599] and launch that [00:35:17.340] job search that we got a quick peek at earlier [00:35:19.940] so we can put in, [00:35:25.739] oh I probably should have included [00:35:28.190] a location as well. There we go. [00:35:30.329] And now once you've taken the assessments, [00:35:32.820] it matches up with [00:35:35.170] your uh [00:35:37.440] uh huh [00:35:38.840] matches pardon me [00:35:40.440] uh that you got from the assessment so [00:35:42.579] you can see where you might. [00:35:44.940] Why not? Well, [00:35:46.639] so you get those kind of and oh and I apologize [00:35:49.050] this okay. This I apologize folks, this is my confusion [00:35:51.469] before the job search that you get [00:35:53.739] without using the assessments [00:35:55.820] does come from a different parameter but here is [00:35:57.829] where we're using Indeed dot com [00:36:00.530] and I apologize because I keep thinking [00:36:02.860] the one replaced the other but it didn't be so honorable. [00:36:05.929] So with indeed dot com. What I [00:36:07.989] love about their site there, another great partner. [00:36:10.610] Um I think [00:36:12.630] uh really a top of the line tool [00:36:14.739] out there on the web because they crawl [00:36:16.869] other search boards. So they're looking [00:36:19.050] not just at, you know, openings [00:36:21.440] that come from other uh, kind [00:36:23.518] of career tools, but also they're crawling [00:36:25.889] company websites. They're crawling, [00:36:28.829] you know, different government sites that pose to [00:36:30.880] open positions and bring them back [00:36:33.050] into one place. So indeed Dot [00:36:35.099] com is a really great [00:36:37.150] resource. Your your [00:36:38.730] so I mean casting out a wide nap when you're looking [00:36:40.820] for open positions when you're using this tool. So [00:36:43.469] probably I spoke to my confusion on those. I don't [00:36:45.530] know why I can't keep that straight [00:36:47.429] So there we go. [00:36:50.929] So there are other help. There's other help here too. [00:36:53.130] We want to show you the resume tool, [00:36:55.230] but before we wrap up and let you go on with [00:36:57.309] the rest of your day. But if we just [00:36:59.320] point them out quickly, we take a look at the tools. [00:37:01.690] This is where you can get a lot of that advice [00:37:04.199] content. So advice for writing [00:37:06.239] your resume, your cover letters interviews, [00:37:09.230] There's some worksheets that can maybe help you walk [00:37:11.539] through learning um you know [00:37:13.539] what you might like as a career. So [00:37:15.860] lots of good stuff in this section of the resource. [00:37:20.130] Um Ellen, can you please show that again? [00:37:22.139] So I'm not sure which [00:37:24.159] thing you'd like me to show again. Gonna be happy to [00:37:26.210] us if you want to elaborate there in the chat, I will. [00:37:29.329] We'll definitely show again. [00:37:31.429] So all of this content I got [00:37:33.719] to through going close some [00:37:35.719] of these camps here [00:37:37.329] is through the career tools under [00:37:39.420] find a career. [00:37:41.030] So all of that content opens up [00:37:43.230] this halfway use section, our [00:37:45.268] project. Let's do that time out. There we go. [00:37:47.730] So it brings back all of that content [00:37:50.730] archer [00:37:52.030] how to get to Indeed, versus the other job [00:37:54.030] listings that he showed. Absolutely. [00:37:55.929] So this comes from and actually [00:37:58.079] let me back up. [00:37:59.929] So you go to the Explorer career [00:38:01.989] section and go into the find [00:38:04.329] a career. And once that opens [00:38:06.659] up there, [00:38:09.719] let me point it out here in the toolbar. So up [00:38:11.889] top we have this this banner that [00:38:13.980] follows us through our time in this section [00:38:16.719] and what we want [00:38:19.018] is that jobs button there [00:38:22.219] around my drawings here is like [00:38:25.320] and we keep you in our [00:38:27.389] interface here while you put in the job [00:38:29.590] you're interested end, [00:38:35.518] wow [00:38:41.518] and show you our matches [00:38:44.018] and then once you click on one of the matches, [00:38:47.820] Not cool anymore. But yeah, you end up [00:38:49.940] at indeed dot com [00:38:52.420] and then from there they actually link [00:38:54.530] out by the original posting and [00:38:56.809] they've got a lot of great tools here too. [00:38:59.518] So what you want to come in to find the indeed [00:39:01.610] dot com matchups [00:39:03.518] come to the job section of [00:39:05.809] the career tools here. Under find [00:39:08.030] a career. You're [00:39:10.940] welcome. No problem. [00:39:13.518] Alrighty so lots of good content. [00:39:15.559] And the career advice tool is well [00:39:17.650] I'll open this up. This is almost more like tutorials [00:39:20.400] that you work through here [00:39:22.518] so it will mimic coming the [00:39:24.619] courses that we've seen before. But you [00:39:26.619] just kind of pick the things that you're most interested. [00:39:28.789] You don't have to work through the many certain order. [00:39:30.989] The transitioning out of the military [00:39:33.159] is a really popular section [00:39:35.170] on data for our folks who are [00:39:37.619] um leaving the military coming [00:39:39.739] out into into civilian life. [00:39:43.420] The last thing I'll show you here though is [00:39:45.599] create a resume and this is [00:39:47.599] a really excellent tool. Again another partner [00:39:49.980] we're working the visual C. V. Here [00:39:52.050] which has [00:39:54.320] really excellent [00:39:56.119] um [00:39:57.920] building a resume tool. I mean it's just [00:40:00.018] I love what it does here. I think it's [00:40:02.079] good for beginners but also folks who are more experienced [00:40:04.480] in their career are looking to give their [00:40:06.539] resume or refresh. [00:40:08.829] It's really I think for everybody when [00:40:11.360] you come into the resource you get a little tutorial [00:40:13.550] about how it works which is nice but of course that's [00:40:15.599] what I'm here for. So let me show you [00:40:18.309] um one of the great things about this collection [00:40:20.340] is that lets you build multiple resumes. [00:40:22.909] So if I'm applying for different types of jobs. [00:40:25.260] I maybe I'm using different resumes for each [00:40:27.349] one. I can keep track of all of them here on [00:40:29.409] the home page, [00:40:30.610] you can see I've got a couple going already. [00:40:33.110] It actually allows you to create a website [00:40:35.480] and this is something folks are being asked for [00:40:37.590] more and more to kind of share a portfolio [00:40:39.860] of work you've done. So it will [00:40:41.929] walk you through creating website to post your content [00:40:44.400] to to post your resume to. [00:40:46.409] There's also which I love. [00:40:48.579] This new career journal tool which [00:40:51.190] helps you track your career accomplishments [00:40:53.570] over time. And this is new to the resource [00:40:55.900] really. I think this this week [00:40:58.010] um [00:40:59.409] or so and it kind [00:41:01.530] of a tool to remind you of the things [00:41:03.690] you've done right. It's hard to write a resume. What [00:41:05.880] do I do my job every day? I don't know why [00:41:07.909] it for me it feels hard to write down, [00:41:10.110] but this also has you [00:41:12.199] keep track of what your achievements are. So things [00:41:14.489] you've done big projects you've taken on and [00:41:16.619] then it's ready for you. [00:41:18.309] Uh two and include and again [00:41:20.500] can category on your website. [00:41:23.710] Yeah, [00:41:25.210] jump back to the resume section so [00:41:27.820] you can work with [00:41:29.829] ones you uh you know, I'm sorry [00:41:31.920] to put it that way, you can edit content [00:41:33.929] that you've created for, you can create something brand [00:41:36.268] new and for first time users [00:41:38.840] this is really handy because one [00:41:40.960] of the things you can do is import a [00:41:43.059] resume. So if you've already got say a [00:41:45.099] word version or pdf, [00:41:47.309] you can import it [00:41:49.110] and then you know, finish your editing [00:41:51.329] here. You can start from [00:41:53.380] scratch and just kind of fill in the blanks as [00:41:55.539] needed. Or I think one of the interesting [00:41:57.869] things here they've got this use stample content [00:42:00.460] and basically it lets you pick [00:42:02.710] from a bunch of different kind of [00:42:04.880] uh [00:42:06.300] resumes and what I like about [00:42:08.460] it is you get this example of what [00:42:10.840] something what a resume might look like [00:42:13.090] and while the industry may not be [00:42:15.190] specific to what you're looking for, [00:42:17.250] like say the marketing [00:42:19.000] um you get [00:42:21.800] a sense of what a resume should look like, what [00:42:23.940] kind of information should be there. So [00:42:25.980] it's it's an interesting way to kind of work with [00:42:28.050] an example. You just can't then [00:42:30.059] can go in and edit each bit of [00:42:32.150] the content. So [00:42:33.699] I have not been an executive system at [00:42:35.809] smith inc so I could always go in [00:42:37.809] and just make changes [00:42:40.800] and fill in the blanks here. [00:42:43.400] And you've got [00:42:45.500] a lot of formatting. Healthcare, which I appreciate. [00:42:48.179] That is not my forte. You know, making [00:42:50.260] my resume looks good. I can certainly [00:42:52.679] use the help if you look over on the left, [00:42:55.199] we've got templates, you can choose from. If [00:42:57.268] I open that up, [00:42:59.099] it will give me options for a different format. [00:43:03.400] This one add a little color. [00:43:06.400] All right and again, don't forget we [00:43:08.460] have those areas of database that are helping you write [00:43:10.659] this. So that's why it's another nice little [00:43:12.849] bit. We've got the database back here for [00:43:14.920] us. I can jump back into the career advice [00:43:16.949] going to the resume section as I'm working [00:43:19.079] on this. Right? So should I include a [00:43:21.090] photo or not? You know, that's that's kind of debatable [00:43:23.510] nowadays. So you've got the [00:43:25.659] career tools to help guide you, [00:43:28.000] right? There's lots of formatting help [00:43:30.179] up here at the top. So changing the colors [00:43:32.250] of things. Maybe if I want a blue instead, [00:43:35.900] make that choice. [00:43:37.500] Alright, take out there. Um so [00:43:39.880] we can, you know, make adjustments, [00:43:41.969] something important that you've got [00:43:44.119] lots of tools for the way this works. But the [00:43:46.170] most important thing I want to share here is [00:43:48.400] the settings for your resume [00:43:51.300] because when you're creating this right, we're in an [00:43:53.409] online environment. So there's the benefit [00:43:55.469] of the actually being able to publish it and put [00:43:57.579] it online if you want to. By [00:44:00.090] default, when you're creating a resume, [00:44:02.380] we are set to resume. Type [00:44:04.469] export only. [00:44:05.989] So that means I'm the only one who can [00:44:08.010] see this resume and I can download [00:44:10.690] it. I can give it to someone that [00:44:12.909] way. But really it's I can only take this [00:44:15.050] resume out of the resource and then [00:44:17.099] give it to someone. So certainly I can print it [00:44:19.190] out or I can, you know, attach it to an email [00:44:21.480] whatever I need to do, [00:44:22.889] but it's kind of the most the highest privacy [00:44:25.210] levels setting here is export only. So that's [00:44:27.340] what we default to. [00:44:29.590] You can also make it on the list. [00:44:31.730] Well, no, let me go from kind of both extremes [00:44:34.039] and then come back to the middle choice. So public [00:44:36.690] would actually publish your resume [00:44:38.780] out on the internet. So if someone search [00:44:40.809] for Stacy Knibloe, they might find this resume. [00:44:43.989] I even have a U R. L, but I conclude [00:44:46.360] and stay a cover letter. This would be the [00:44:48.429] U. R. L. I could just copy and paste that right [00:44:50.599] into a cover letter uh that I'm sending [00:44:52.630] to a prospective employer. They'll be able to click that [00:44:54.780] link and see this resume, [00:44:56.690] Right? But you become searchable [00:44:58.780] by search engines when you choose this public [00:45:01.090] option. So that's kind of the most extreme [00:45:03.170] level. The happy medium [00:45:05.449] is unlisted. [00:45:07.090] So you don't become searchable with [00:45:09.139] this option, you wouldn't be able to search [00:45:11.170] for Stacy Knibloe on the internet and find this resume, [00:45:13.579] but it does create a web page [00:45:15.809] for you. So, again, I could still choose [00:45:17.920] who I give it to. So again, prospective employers [00:45:20.289] in a cover letter or wherever I want to put it, [00:45:22.690] I suppose it to my linkedin page or something [00:45:25.289] you can use that you are around. But that's [00:45:27.309] the only way people will be able to find this resume [00:45:29.570] is if they have that. [00:45:32.090] So these settings are really important [00:45:34.389] and it is again the default [00:45:37.250] is always exporting, [00:45:38.889] but it's a great way to get your name [00:45:41.000] out there. If you can publish [00:45:43.119] this online. Right? And I don't have to create [00:45:45.119] a web page to do it. Visual C. V has done [00:45:47.309] it. So bury [00:45:49.449] it. So [00:45:51.800] lots of good stuff here. I will point [00:45:53.820] out, oh, um should this come up, [00:45:55.920] I can feel, I can see people rushing to [00:45:57.969] the references for help with this. So in the history [00:46:00.360] section you can see the different versions you've [00:46:02.409] created. I just created this one. So I don't [00:46:04.570] really have a revision history, [00:46:06.380] but if you've done some work you're like, oh my gosh, [00:46:08.409] none of this is good. I want to go back to what it was. [00:46:10.679] You can go back to an earlier version [00:46:12.800] of the resume. [00:46:15.880] Yeah. Really excellent tool [00:46:18.110] here. Again, keep in mind all the help that's within [00:46:20.349] the resource itself [00:46:22.179] to get you to um writing [00:46:24.539] a great resume too, so [00:46:26.550] that all that's there. Um and there's [00:46:28.610] there's good stuff in their health as well. People [00:46:30.610] into the knowledge center, so [00:46:33.389] no shortage of helpful books and [00:46:37.380] already, so let's go ahead and start getting [00:46:39.820] on with the rest of your day. We'll [00:46:41.820] go ahead and and wrap up here. So I do want [00:46:43.969] to share a couple of thoughts on, [00:46:45.880] you know, you are always going to be the one often [00:46:48.360] pointing your users to this resource, but [00:46:50.518] there are other ways to get them in kind of a more [00:46:53.480] passive way. Marc records [00:46:55.500] are a great way to do that. What we've done is create [00:46:57.860] Mark records for subject hub pages [00:47:00.268] and e books. [00:47:01.579] So the e book's pretty, you know, [00:47:03.639] self explanatory that Marc records going to take [00:47:05.829] folks right to the e book content in [00:47:07.829] the resource. So they search in your catalog [00:47:10.190] for master the asvab boom, they land [00:47:12.518] in the database, [00:47:13.900] they grabbed that length. [00:47:15.579] The subject hubs are those pages [00:47:17.699] where we've gathered all the stuff we have for [00:47:19.730] whatever practice exams for the college Planning [00:47:22.090] center, for the Career center of those [00:47:24.179] things. [00:47:25.079] That kind of home page that each of these items [00:47:27.440] have and directs them there. So if I come [00:47:29.500] into your catalog and search for [00:47:31.510] S A T, I'm going to land on a page that [00:47:33.630] gives me the online course. It gives [00:47:35.690] me the practice test and gives me the ebook, [00:47:38.480] right? So this is a great way [00:47:40.518] to drive users into the resource. And [00:47:42.610] the marc records are, [00:47:44.880] and of course loaded in your catalog. We also [00:47:47.268] have these links available though, just [00:47:49.360] as you are l so you can post them [00:47:51.440] in a tweet, you could post it into [00:47:53.690] an email and online newsletter. [00:47:55.800] Um, you know, maybe that goes out to parents or [00:47:57.829] patrons or something like that. So [00:48:00.670] where you can get all of this, the mark records [00:48:02.889] and the direct lengths [00:48:05.369] is right through our support page support dot [00:48:07.570] gale dot com.
