[00:00:05.250] All right. Well, hello everyone. Uh My [00:00:07.679] name is Lindsay Barfield. I am [00:00:09.720] gonna be your training consultant today for our session [00:00:12.000] on exploring the enhancements to Gale Presents: [00:00:14.448] Peterson's test and career prep. Uh [00:00:16.719] You might have noticed that this past Monday, Peterson's [00:00:19.190] got a pretty good update. So we are gonna [00:00:21.199] take a look at that today at some of uh those changes [00:00:23.379] that they made and also just do [00:00:25.399] kind of a full walkthrough. So that way [00:00:27.440] if you are a brand new Peterson's [00:00:29.539] user or an experienced one, we're [00:00:31.559] gonna have a little something for everybody. [00:00:33.899] All right. So let's take a look quick on our agenda [00:00:35.990] here for today. [00:00:38.219] I have a couple of slides to share with [00:00:40.279] you on just you know, an overview of [00:00:42.298] what Peterson's is and then also a few [00:00:44.469] of those enhancements that we did make, but we're [00:00:46.579] gonna spend most of our time in the actual resource [00:00:48.969] walkthrough section there. That second, uh [00:00:51.060] we're gonna take a look at all the tools and features [00:00:53.079] and new user experience that we have. [00:00:55.560] And then at the end of the session, I'm gonna save some time [00:00:57.630] for questions and support materials but I [00:00:59.689] do encourage you as we're going along. If [00:01:02.009] you have questions, please answer them. [00:01:04.049] I do have the Q and A open here. So I [00:01:06.069] am, I am happy to answer them as they come [00:01:08.150] up. All right. But with that, let's [00:01:10.409] go ahead and take a look at what [00:01:12.489] Peterson's test and career prep [00:01:14.799] is. [00:01:17.510] All right. So if you're unfamiliar, Peterson's [00:01:19.939] test in career prep is really a comprehensive [00:01:22.049] tool uh to meet your patrons [00:01:24.120] where they're at on their educational [00:01:26.189] or career journey. So, you know, whether [00:01:28.329] they're a high school student who's looking to prepare [00:01:30.680] for, you know, the AC T or SAT [00:01:32.959] and then maybe continue on from there into their career [00:01:35.659] or someone who's been in the workforce for a while and they're [00:01:37.730] just looking for a change, you know, whether that means [00:01:39.969] they want to go back to school and get their masters [00:01:42.189] or they want to take a specialized exam or [00:01:44.250] just change the field that they're in. [00:01:46.402] Peterson's has tools inside to help [00:01:48.552] guide them and find success along [00:01:50.792] that journey. So talking a little bit more [00:01:52.912] about what some of those tools are. Uh the [00:01:55.001] first one I want to focus on is how they can prepare for [00:01:57.322] a test. So your patrons are going to find [00:01:59.602] online courses, practice tests [00:02:01.852] and PDF books that otherwise [00:02:03.953] would be pretty expensive for them to source [00:02:06.093] on their own. Um to prep for some of those well [00:02:08.342] known tests like the AC TSAT, [00:02:10.562] even A P exams for your high school student [00:02:13.305] and some vocational exams as well, uh, [00:02:15.365] to really get them ready before they go [00:02:17.425] into it. [00:02:18.295] Uh, some of those vocational exams also include [00:02:20.415] like specialized tests for different, [00:02:22.705] uh, majors or different areas of study in college. [00:02:25.425] You know, I am a former teacher and I had [00:02:27.534] to take a series of practice, practice [00:02:29.594] exams that were very expensive [00:02:31.825] to find, uh uh you know, practice materials [00:02:34.205] for. And we've got a whole series of them [00:02:36.284] within Peterson. So a lot of [00:02:38.355] great test prep materials inside. [00:02:42.770] We also have a tool to help your patrons [00:02:44.879] find the school that works for them. So if [00:02:47.069] they are preparing to go to school, you know, to [00:02:49.149] get their um undergrad or graduate, [00:02:51.679] they can search for a school based [00:02:53.719] on different filters like the location [00:02:56.278] cost size, even [00:02:58.500] the setting that it's in. And then from [00:03:00.569] there use a similar searching tool to find [00:03:02.800] scholarships that might help them as [00:03:04.899] they are paying for that school they're going back to. [00:03:09.960] All right. Next, we have the explore career [00:03:12.219] tool so people can take online [00:03:14.750] quizzes uh to help find the career [00:03:16.929] that match their interests and goals. [00:03:18.969] And then from there, they can use the resume [00:03:21.099] builder, career advice, job search [00:03:23.409] tools to help prepare for that big interview. [00:03:25.750] Once they do find that career they want to go [00:03:27.889] for. All [00:03:30.349] right. So now talking a little bit about those enhancements [00:03:32.849] that we've made. [00:03:34.038] Um If you're familiar with Peterson's, you might notice from the [00:03:36.088] screen already. The most notable [00:03:38.219] enhancement has been the brand new [00:03:40.278] interface that you're now going to see once we get [00:03:42.409] inside here. [00:03:43.699] Uh So all the enhancements, I'm about to talk about [00:03:45.800] come directly from user and librarian [00:03:48.308] feedback. So, one of the biggest [00:03:50.368] piece of feedback that we're getting is that [00:03:52.368] uh you know, people want to find the content a little more [00:03:54.429] easily, they want to have it in one place. They can just kind [00:03:56.500] of scroll through and look at it and that [00:03:58.649] is now done on the home page. [00:04:00.729] So they can browse content on a brand [00:04:03.080] new, easy to use interface. [00:04:05.149] All they have to do is scroll through the home page. [00:04:07.330] They can see all the different sections that are available [00:04:09.879] and have options now for quicker access, [00:04:12.679] they're also gonna find calls to action. [00:04:15.008] So if they're coming in to prepare for an exam, [00:04:17.278] they're gonna see that prepare for an exam button [00:04:19.449] click in and it's gonna navigate through all [00:04:21.660] the different options and filters that we have to find [00:04:23.838] the exact exam they wanna prepare for. [00:04:26.250] And then we also have added a higher contrast [00:04:28.329] in color just so it's a little bit easier on [00:04:30.420] the eyes and an easier reading experience. [00:04:38.678] All right, some other enhancements that you might notice. [00:04:40.980] We now have a Spanish translation feature [00:04:43.290] on the home page. [00:04:44.678] So you can easily toggle between [00:04:46.949] Spanish and English language. Uh [00:04:48.959] This will be especially useful if you're working with [00:04:51.119] any Spanish patron or Spanish speaking patrons. [00:04:53.588] Uh and you want to work alongside them, you can have it pulled [00:04:55.798] up in English, they can have it open in Spanish [00:04:57.970] and all the navigation, all of the buttons, [00:05:00.119] all the features are going to work the exact same way. [00:05:03.548] We also have a new goal setting feature. [00:05:05.850] So you might remember in the previous iteration of Peterson's [00:05:08.720] uh that your patrons could favorite courses [00:05:11.129] and exams that they were preparing for. What [00:05:13.139] we've done now is kind of taken that tool a step [00:05:15.338] further and they can actually add [00:05:17.660] those, those courses and exams to goals [00:05:19.920] that they're working towards and they can even now [00:05:22.160] save their schools scholarships [00:05:24.639] and jobs they're applying for. So everything's [00:05:26.670] easily accessible and organized [00:05:28.959] in that my resources tab [00:05:33.040] and then of course, we are continuing to add [00:05:35.069] more and more content. So we do [00:05:37.230] update the resource quarterly and add in, [00:05:39.309] you know, new content like these flash cards or students [00:05:41.709] love uh you know, practice tests [00:05:43.920] and and so on. But we also have added a lot [00:05:46.019] of new uh video content. [00:05:48.149] So we've updated 26 of our topics [00:05:50.428] with video content since we know our users [00:05:52.750] love to watch those and it supports [00:05:55.040] a variety of learning styles. [00:05:59.088] OK? So with that, let's go ahead [00:06:01.338] and explore the resource now let [00:06:03.420] me change my screen here [00:06:05.540] quickly. All [00:06:15.699] right. So this is your new home page. [00:06:18.139] And what I want to point out here before we get [00:06:20.230] too far into it is that the home page [00:06:22.428] is going to look the same whether you have [00:06:24.548] an account or don't. Uh, which is [00:06:26.579] nice because if your patrons are kind of looking [00:06:28.608] through and deciding if they want to create a new account, [00:06:31.149] they want to sign up for this resource, [00:06:33.415] they can just scroll through and browse the [00:06:35.475] content before they sign up and see [00:06:37.535] just how much we have available here. [00:06:40.125] Uh Of course, once they actually click in to begin [00:06:42.345] a course or practice, test, it is gonna prompt them [00:06:44.444] to create that account. But until then [00:06:46.855] they can just kind of go through and browse, [00:06:51.540] all right, pointing out again, that Spanish translation [00:06:53.809] feature right here. I can easily [00:06:55.899] just with the click toggle over to Spanish. [00:06:59.459] And now all of my navigation here is translated [00:07:01.809] for me and this [00:07:04.009] feature does uh carry over [00:07:06.410] once you log in or create that account. So [00:07:08.678] right here, if you recall, this is where I could click [00:07:10.709] to log in or sign up. When [00:07:12.759] I click here, all of my sign up instructions [00:07:15.199] remain in Spanish and once I actually enter [00:07:17.428] the resource signed in, it will carry over there as [00:07:19.569] well. All [00:07:22.088] right, but I'm gonna toggle back to English for now [00:07:25.119] and let's go ahead and do that and log in or sign up. [00:07:27.298] So again, I can do that right down here with this blue button [00:07:29.869] or up at the top, you'll have the prompts there. [00:07:34.170] We have our first question. So someone asked [00:07:36.420] if the school already has an [00:07:38.439] account for Peterson's test prep, do students need [00:07:40.500] to individually make their own accounts? So, [00:07:42.699] yes. So your students would need to make their [00:07:44.750] own account to come in and save their progress [00:07:47.100] as they're working on it. Even if your school has access, [00:07:49.829] they would each need to make their own account. [00:07:53.079] All right. And so to make those accounts, it's kind of work seamlessly [00:07:55.428] with what I'm talking about right now. [00:07:57.129] Uh, they would just sign up right here [00:07:59.350] if they don't have one already. [00:08:01.869] And the information that we need here is just gonna [00:08:03.959] be first name, last name. [00:08:06.500] Uh, email address is optional, but it [00:08:08.588] does give you this nice little dis disclaimer here [00:08:10.759] that, uh, it's never gonna be used [00:08:13.220] for promotional material or to contact [00:08:15.689] them in any way except to [00:08:17.819] recover their password. So, if they're [00:08:19.889] kind of hesitant about using their email address [00:08:22.230] or email address, they can rest assured that it's only [00:08:24.379] gonna be for Peterson's. But if they wanna [00:08:26.540] sign up without, they always can do that just by [00:08:28.660] toggling here. [00:08:30.220] But it's still gonna give you that little disclaimer that [00:08:32.389] if you're not using your email address, if [00:08:34.808] you lose your info, your account will not be retrievable [00:08:37.048] anymore. So we do recommend using that email [00:08:39.308] address here. [00:08:41.440] All right, then they just can pick their password at the bottom [00:08:43.548] and register, [00:08:45.178] but I already have an account. So I'm gonna log [00:08:47.440] in. All [00:08:54.750] right. And now I'm back on my new home page. But [00:08:56.889] again, the only thing that's changed is that I am now logged in at [00:08:58.940] the top. I can see my little, my letter L [00:09:01.149] that I have in the resource but everything [00:09:03.570] else is gonna work the same. [00:09:05.869] All right. So with Peterson's, you now have a couple [00:09:07.899] of different options to browse our content. [00:09:10.119] And the very first one as you scroll down is [00:09:12.139] gonna be this call to action here. Do [00:09:14.210] I wanna prep for an exam? Find a school [00:09:16.450] or scholarship uh prep test educational [00:09:18.700] schools? Which path do I want to take? [00:09:21.190] So once I select one like prep for an exam, [00:09:25.830] it's gonna have me choose a category, you know, which [00:09:28.000] kind of exam would I wanna prep for? [00:09:30.190] We'll do college test, prep [00:09:32.899] and then which of those exams am I preparing [00:09:35.109] for? And we'll just go with the AC [00:09:37.229] T for now. [00:09:39.558] All right, after you've narrowed it down, it's kind of guided [00:09:41.678] you along to find the perfect materials for you. [00:09:44.259] It's gonna show you what we have available. So for the AC [00:09:46.399] T, we have an online course and [00:09:48.469] then we also have practice tests [00:09:50.629] along with this actual course. And test [00:09:52.710] here. We have supporting materials like those books [00:09:54.750] that I was talking about. Nice PDF [00:09:57.029] version of the AC T prep guide ebook, [00:10:00.019] some articles that they can view. So tips [00:10:02.090] and strategies for the AC T and [00:10:04.259] this actually links directly out to the AC T [00:10:06.279] itself [00:10:07.210] if they need some more information about testing [00:10:10.989] and then you get your little about section so about this [00:10:13.178] test and because both of these [00:10:15.359] are related to the AC T, they are the same, the materials [00:10:17.739] that go along with it. [00:10:20.500] All right, now, I'll click into one if you're unfamiliar, Peterson's [00:10:22.808] just to show you how these are set up. But both the online [00:10:24.859] course and practice tests are kind of built into modules. [00:10:27.808] So your students or patrons, [00:10:29.849] they can kind of pick and choose which pieces [00:10:32.158] they want to do [00:10:33.250] if I'm preparing for the AC T. And I [00:10:35.330] know I'm really great at English. [00:10:37.570] I've got this part down pat, but I need some [00:10:39.609] help with math. I can pick the [00:10:41.690] specific modules that I want to use to prepare [00:10:43.849] for that part of the test. [00:10:46.019] All right, you're gonna have course materials, of course, [00:10:48.288] like this intro to AC T mass math. [00:10:50.460] You can see I already started it, [00:10:52.570] which is, is a good time to point out if you had an existing [00:10:55.009] Peterson's account before the update, anything [00:10:57.548] you did before Monday still carries over. [00:10:59.840] So you don't lose any of that progress. Everything should still [00:11:01.950] look the same in terms of your coursework. [00:11:05.000] All right. But even within this, this module on my [00:11:07.009] intro to math, I can still from [00:11:09.029] here pick and choose which parts [00:11:11.590] of the course that I wanna take. [00:11:19.229] And it's even showing me some example questions that are built [00:11:21.469] in here. Now with the course, [00:11:24.428] if you notice, let me come back here [00:11:28.340] within these courses, you might also get practice [00:11:30.710] tests. So right here, I've got a post assessment on [00:11:32.750] just mathematics that I can take. [00:11:34.788] And this is gonna be in addition to [00:11:37.960] the practice test that I have here. So a lot [00:11:40.340] of great course material and practice tests available [00:11:43.029] uh for your, your, your exams. [00:11:45.509] Now, once I've seen something and I know that [00:11:47.639] I want to favorite it or add it to my resources [00:11:50.210] so I can get back to it easily later. All [00:11:52.389] I have to do is click this button right over here. So [00:11:54.690] I'm gonna add the online course, [00:11:56.899] give it a second to load like a confirmation [00:11:59.320] that it's there. [00:12:00.408] And I'm gonna add my practice test too. [00:12:05.779] All right, once it's in my resources, you can just click [00:12:08.058] in and [00:12:10.259] it'll show you my goals. So now I have [00:12:12.450] a goal clearly of taking the AC T if I [00:12:14.469] was favoring that material. Right? So here's [00:12:16.769] all the content related to the AC T [00:12:19.500] that I need to study. [00:12:21.729] If I decide that I want to add a new goal [00:12:24.048] or search for a new goal. I can do that [00:12:26.139] right here [00:12:28.178] and it's going to bring me to that exact same experience [00:12:30.408] that I just had on the home page. [00:12:32.259] So maybe now I'm preparing for a vocational [00:12:34.529] test. I can [00:12:36.580] go in [00:12:37.879] select any of these vocations, which [00:12:39.899] I'm gonna go into medical and nursing here. [00:12:44.859] And it's going to break down all the different [00:12:47.090] tests that we have, which you can see for medical nursing. [00:12:49.119] We've got quite a few. If I kept scrolling here, [00:12:51.200] it goes on for a little while. [00:12:53.399] But I'm just gonna pick this [00:12:55.509] NCLEX course [00:12:57.928] and here we can click in so you can view it. [00:13:01.619] We close up these tabs. Here we go. [00:13:04.899] Just to show the format might look a little different. I mean, [00:13:06.950] the course names you can see they're broken down by the different [00:13:09.109] areas of the nclex, but it still works [00:13:11.308] the same way where you can pick and choose what you'd like to do. [00:13:16.200] All right, let me add this to my resources. [00:13:22.418] And if I go back now, [00:13:25.158] I have a new goal, I've got AC T [00:13:27.269] selected. So it's just showing me that material. [00:13:29.798] But if I went over to medical and nursing, it's [00:13:32.070] just gonna show me what I selected there. So it keeps [00:13:34.129] it easily organized. So it's not too overwhelming [00:13:36.340] when they click in and say, oh my gosh, I have five courses [00:13:38.450] added. Well, no, let me pick which goal I'm [00:13:40.558] working on today and I can go into [00:13:42.570] that course, that practice test and start working on [00:13:44.599] it. All [00:13:46.639] right. So that was our first way to browse was just by [00:13:48.658] clicking into one of these calls to action here on the [00:13:50.710] home page [00:13:52.000] the next way. And the one that I mentioned uh [00:13:54.019] in our slides before is that now [00:13:56.048] you can just scroll through the home page and see all [00:13:58.229] this content and all the tools that we have. So [00:14:00.529] we were looking before at the, the test that we had [00:14:02.710] to improve for or prepare for, [00:14:04.908] you know, a college level test. Well, I also [00:14:07.219] have foundational skills, high school [00:14:09.359] grad school international [00:14:11.308] and you can see that all these are hyperlinked. It's gonna suggest [00:14:13.570] a couple popular ones. But if you click [00:14:15.668] into et cetera or click on the name itself, it'll show you all [00:14:17.779] of them. Same [00:14:20.080] for vocational schools is all linked out. [00:14:23.619] And then career tools you can see [00:14:25.690] here, we've got four different career tools to look at. [00:14:28.149] Uh the first one being career advice. [00:14:31.500] This is going to bring you to that kind of career cruiser [00:14:33.889] quiz that I mentioned again in our slides before. [00:14:37.279] Oh, sorry. No, that's gonna be the next one. This is going to be [00:14:39.690] uh modules that you can use to prepare for [00:14:41.830] your career. So uh whether you are [00:14:43.869] just starting out in your job search, getting [00:14:46.308] into your resume basics or [00:14:48.460] even some of these are really specific and interesting. [00:14:50.639] Like if you are making a career change [00:14:52.750] or the benefits of temping or transitioning [00:14:55.200] out of the military, we've got some really great advice here [00:14:57.710] that you can click into. We'll go to salary negotiations [00:15:01.450] and let's walk you through, maybe how to navigate through [00:15:03.918] that specific scenario or that situation that you're [00:15:06.080] in. All [00:15:11.000] right. Find a career is what I was thinking. I clicked [00:15:13.210] on before [00:15:15.090] this is going to bring you to the quiz, [00:15:18.500] which you can see I've already taken. [00:15:20.418] Uh, there's four quizzes total that you can take, [00:15:22.750] but only two of them are required and they assess [00:15:25.048] your interests and values. But [00:15:27.099] if you want to really narrow down your, your results even [00:15:29.239] further, you can assess based on personality and [00:15:31.259] workplace preference as well. [00:15:33.038] Um But these are different kinds of questions where you kind of [00:15:35.210] rank these things based on importance [00:15:37.489] or, you know, things that maybe aren't important to you. [00:15:39.820] And it's going to start suggesting careers [00:15:41.969] that maybe match your interests. If [00:15:44.288] you want to explore those, you can click right up [00:15:46.369] here, explore career matches [00:15:50.729] and it's going to suggest them based on strength. [00:15:53.219] So you can see at the top, my strongest [00:15:55.418] area is in education, which I've already said I'm a former [00:15:57.558] educator. So that works perfectly for me. [00:15:59.879] Uh I've also got human services though, [00:16:01.918] arts media communication. If I was [00:16:03.950] ever thinking about changing careers [00:16:06.798] I can view specific careers within each by [00:16:08.960] clicking in [00:16:09.918] and it's going to show you them based on strength. [00:16:13.750] So if I think, ok, well, you know, [00:16:15.788] I taught middle school, maybe I wanna be a preschool [00:16:17.798] teacher. Let's see what it says here about that position. [00:16:21.719] It's going to give me a really nice overview [00:16:24.009] of this career. So a description, [00:16:26.489] some titles I may want to look for when I'm applying [00:16:29.200] uh on the job things that I would be doing. [00:16:33.529] And then I can even go over to programs. I would wanna [00:16:35.700] consider [00:16:37.629] abilities, [00:16:39.668] knowledge [00:16:41.399] and skills. [00:16:43.440] And then over on the right here, it's gonna give you a nice video [00:16:45.769] to give an overview, your average [00:16:47.928] salary job outlook. [00:16:50.308] And then I can go in and actually find jobs [00:16:52.629] related to this. [00:16:54.279] This is just a tool where I can type in my [00:16:56.629] zip code, [00:16:59.570] the career that I'm looking for. So we'll just keep it pretty [00:17:01.629] broad here and say education. [00:17:04.678] There we go. [00:17:10.618] Give it just a second to load. [00:17:13.208] All right. And now not only is it showing me [00:17:15.358] uh jobs related to education [00:17:17.519] in my area, but it's also sort [00:17:19.557] of them based on that relevance. So my very strong [00:17:21.898] match up here uh integrated physical [00:17:23.979] science instructor or instructor in general [00:17:26.239] education, a mathematics instructor. [00:17:28.448] Uh and these are always impress the heck out of me because [00:17:30.564] I was a math and science teacher. So the fact these are my [00:17:32.644] first two recommendations are pretty, pretty [00:17:34.894] cool, but I can scroll through here and see all [00:17:37.184] the openings in my area. I put in the [00:17:39.285] zip code for an area, a nearby area [00:17:41.414] here in Cincinnati, [00:17:42.844] uh and see what's available. [00:17:46.838] And if you go in and click on these, [00:17:50.150] it'll bring you to the actual application site [00:17:52.250] where I can apply for this position if I'm interested. [00:18:02.338] All right. Next, we have our online resume builder. [00:18:04.618] This is everyone's favorite. [00:18:06.588] This is one of the coolest tools I think we have in here, [00:18:09.709] especially speaking as someone who had to beef up my resume [00:18:11.868] recently. And it's challenging, you know, whether [00:18:14.180] you've, you've got one already existing or you're kind of starting [00:18:16.380] from scratch. It can be a lot to, to take [00:18:18.660] on at once. So we've got this builder [00:18:21.059] where you can create your resume cover [00:18:23.259] letter website or career journal, [00:18:25.640] but they're all set up to work the same way. [00:18:27.979] So when you click in to create new, [00:18:30.559] you can either upload an existing resume, [00:18:33.199] use some example content that we have [00:18:35.299] or start from scratch. [00:18:36.989] I always like using some example content [00:18:39.009] here. It helps a lot with maybe figuring [00:18:41.229] out some of that verbiage on how you wanna phrase your [00:18:43.259] daily tasks or your responsibilities. [00:18:45.670] But I can search either for the position I currently [00:18:47.949] have or maybe the one I'm applying for. So I can [00:18:49.989] look at, you know, maybe some things I wanna include. [00:18:52.890] So we'll say I'm looking for something with, as an executive [00:18:55.368] assistant. [00:18:59.640] Ok, there [00:19:01.650] we go. And [00:19:03.939] it's gonna give me some recommended uh, resumes [00:19:06.459] here to look at. [00:19:07.519] Now, I can preview it first. [00:19:10.930] Get an idea of what this person has done some [00:19:13.078] information there. But once I select it, [00:19:16.660] it's gonna open up the resume builder and it's gonna import [00:19:19.088] any information that I already have. So it's [00:19:21.189] gonna give you my name, location, [00:19:23.868] the email address that I used when I created my account [00:19:25.930] here at Peterson's. But then it's gonna keep [00:19:28.180] all of that work somebody else already did. [00:19:30.739] Uh So that way I have this as example, content [00:19:33.529] and once I get in here, I can really change this [00:19:35.608] however I'd like. So it's [00:19:37.640] using one of our templates which you can [00:19:39.709] see right over here. We've got a couple of really nice templates [00:19:41.939] to choose from. [00:19:43.719] Let's say I like this Gallant one better I can [00:19:45.828] select [00:19:48.699] and it's gonna change the format but all the content [00:19:51.029] stays. So I can use one of our premade [00:19:53.358] templates as is or I can [00:19:55.410] come in and change it up on my own. So if I wanna pick [00:19:57.489] a different font, [00:20:01.890] let's do these two. [00:20:03.818] It changes everything. For me, the font size, [00:20:06.000] I can change the colors, you know, maybe I'm not [00:20:08.078] a fan of orange, I'd rather it be [00:20:10.420] uh let's say green or oh, that's a little too bright. [00:20:12.719] We will try this one [00:20:14.750] and drag it down. [00:20:16.289] There we go and I screen there, I can [00:20:18.539] change it up however I'd like. And if I realize, [00:20:20.959] OK, I got a little too far from where I want. I can [00:20:23.088] always reset the styling and go right back to [00:20:25.150] that, that temple that I was using before. [00:20:27.858] All right, you can also change your page layout and [00:20:29.920] just kind of change your margins there. [00:20:32.568] Look at more examples. So if I realize that this [00:20:34.680] is not the one I want to use, I can do that search again [00:20:36.799] and find a different example content. [00:20:39.029] Or if I realize I had a resume and I wanna import [00:20:41.368] it, I can go ahead and, and import that one [00:20:43.479] there. But the resume builder has a lot [00:20:45.660] of different tools and capabilities. And even [00:20:47.709] here, you know, if I decide that I wanna do [00:20:49.789] a different order, [00:20:51.039] I can click things, move around and [00:20:53.209] totally change up my resume [00:20:54.949] on the screen here pretty quick and easily. [00:21:02.199] All right. And then the last tool that we have within [00:21:04.368] career tools in the home page here is the job search, [00:21:06.719] but that works pretty much the same way. It doesn't find [00:21:08.868] a career. So you know how we just search for [00:21:11.068] uh careers in Cincinnati, I can do the same thing [00:21:13.078] right here. OK. [00:21:15.318] Another way that you can browse content, of course, [00:21:17.358] I could keep scrolling down to look for a school or scholarship [00:21:20.229] but I also have this browse menu option. [00:21:22.489] That kind of follows me as I'm moving around. [00:21:25.469] When I click in here, it breaks down all [00:21:27.479] those sections that we have in the home page. So we've already [00:21:29.640] looked at these, but let's go to find a school. [00:21:32.809] And here are my tools that I have the school search, [00:21:35.279] scholarship, search and financial aid quiz. [00:21:38.598] We'll go to our school search first. [00:21:42.519] All right. This is also received an update with the [00:21:44.630] uh interface change, but it works the same way [00:21:46.759] as it did previously, [00:21:48.239] you can toggle now between school [00:21:50.779] and scholarship searching right here at the top. [00:21:53.519] Pretty quickly, [00:21:55.479] you also can toggle between undergrad [00:21:57.979] and graduate level. [00:22:00.239] We have a toggle now also for distance learning [00:22:02.479] only. So if I know I want to do online learning, I can turn [00:22:04.709] this on [00:22:05.699] and it's gonna change all my schools for me. [00:22:08.779] But all your filters down below should be the same as [00:22:10.848] before. So you can filter by location. [00:22:13.299] So I'm located in Kentucky, but maybe I want to get [00:22:15.338] away from home for school and I wanna go to New York or California. [00:22:18.299] But I don't know what schools there are. I can filter and it's [00:22:20.368] gonna give me a full list of those schools, [00:22:23.588] the size, [00:22:25.479] studying tuition amount, of course, [00:22:27.618] very important. So you can really narrow down [00:22:29.848] and see what's gonna be within the range of possibilities [00:22:32.309] for you. But I chose [00:22:34.338] one from the home page, [00:22:36.670] Temple University in Philadelphia. [00:22:38.890] We'll click in there [00:22:40.410] because no matter which of the schools that you get or [00:22:42.618] that you select, it should have pretty similar information [00:22:45.059] on the home page or on the, the page for it. [00:22:47.368] So you're gonna have an overview at the top, just giving [00:22:49.598] you some background information on the university itself, [00:22:53.989] the location and contact information, [00:22:57.338] the majors and degrees being offered, which you [00:22:59.410] can scroll through. But there are quite a few here at this [00:23:01.568] university. So I know it's pretty big, [00:23:04.459] the student body population [00:23:07.348] gallery of images if we have them [00:23:09.549] and even these social links here at the bottom, which are [00:23:11.598] nice, you can see their social media accounts. But [00:23:13.769] then also the school links where if I want [00:23:15.789] to visit or if I want to apply, they're [00:23:18.189] linked right here. So rather than having to go to the actual [00:23:20.568] school homepage and kind of click around and [00:23:22.699] find all this information in the different places, it's [00:23:24.799] just a little one sheet on that school. [00:23:27.739] Now, if I've gone through this and I like it and [00:23:29.779] I wanna save it for later, [00:23:31.299] I can just save to my schools here [00:23:36.400] and it's gonna be located in my resources when [00:23:38.410] I go there in just a few minutes. But before I go [00:23:40.469] in, I wanna add a scholarship. [00:23:43.150] So let's go back [00:23:44.910] to our search tool [00:23:47.199] and now let's find a scholarship that I can use there. [00:23:51.939] Ok. So I was looking at an undergrad school [00:23:54.539] so I'll, I'll toggle over to undergrad [00:23:57.420] and it was in Pennsylvania. [00:23:59.489] So I wanna change my state of study now [00:24:01.989] to Pennsylvania. [00:24:05.420] All right, here are the undergrad scholarships [00:24:07.439] that I have for Pennsylvania that I can apply [00:24:09.449] for. If I click on any of [00:24:11.479] these, [00:24:14.108] I'm gonna get that overview page again, but for [00:24:16.170] this specific scholarship, so a description, [00:24:18.578] maybe the background information on it, who, who [00:24:20.789] started it, [00:24:21.838] uh the amount details [00:24:23.939] eligibility requirements [00:24:25.799] and then how to apply. So you can get an address [00:24:28.098] here and some contact information. [00:24:30.130] But just like with schools, if I wanna save this [00:24:32.199] to apply for it later, [00:24:33.549] I can save to my scholarships [00:24:37.449] and now it's gonna be added in my resources. [00:24:40.539] So let's go back here and see how that looks now. [00:24:44.259] So I've still got my goals here for AC T [00:24:46.719] and for nursing. But now under schools, [00:24:49.568] there's Temple University [00:24:51.618] and my scholarship. So you can see how a student could [00:24:53.640] really build this out with all the schools they're applying [00:24:55.699] to and looking at all the scholarships they [00:24:57.818] wanna apply to and look for. They can save [00:25:00.000] them all here and keep it pretty neatly organized. [00:25:02.630] Are you also noticed that I have my jobs? [00:25:05.779] If you see any jobs you wanna apply for, you [00:25:07.858] can also save those here. You can see I saved one for [00:25:10.039] a training instructor that's remote. [00:25:14.400] Oh, someone said, that's a very good question. They said are [00:25:16.568] the schools included in the school search limited to schools [00:25:18.660] in the US or does it include international schools? [00:25:20.969] I believe it is only in the US, [00:25:22.989] but I can check and get a definite answer for you. [00:25:25.160] I'll include that in our follow up email tomorrow. Let [00:25:27.199] me write that down. So don't forget, [00:25:35.939] but I would guess it would just be US schools. [00:25:41.368] Ok. Let me go back to our home page here [00:25:44.108] and our very last browsing [00:25:46.189] option. So we've got our calls to action [00:25:48.439] the home page browse menu. We [00:25:50.630] still have our basic search here. So you can always do [00:25:52.739] a basic search if you come in and you know what [00:25:54.769] you're looking for. You can type in those terms [00:25:57.239] and our search assist is gonna pop up. So [00:25:59.519] if I'm looking for financial aid information, [00:26:04.420] I can see, oh, I've got a financial aid quiz that I can [00:26:06.568] take and learn a little bit more about that. [00:26:08.689] So the basic search, [00:26:10.088] we'll just recommend some searches for you, but you'll see that [00:26:12.108] if you clear it, we're also giving you popular [00:26:14.459] searches within the resource. So people are looking [00:26:16.479] at those schools and sat online [00:26:18.799] and then trending terms as well. [00:26:23.799] All right. [00:26:24.920] So that is Peterson's, that's our update and [00:26:26.989] our full walk through. [00:26:28.400] Um, before we head back to our slides, I did [00:26:30.410] wanna show you [00:26:31.989] because Peterson's just updated on [00:26:34.009] Monday. We are getting our support materials together [00:26:36.689] and update on the support site if you've [00:26:38.818] never been, uh, support.y.com [00:26:41.269] has a wealth of information, not just for Peterson's, [00:26:43.430] but for any of our products. So [00:26:45.439] if you go in [00:26:47.108] and browse products here, [00:26:49.689] I'm gonna type in Peterson, thats what I am looking for. [00:26:52.880] We'll go to test and career prep. We [00:26:55.390] have our resource guide. So if you are needing [00:26:57.500] to train people on this at your library or [00:26:59.559] school, if you scroll down [00:27:04.000] right here, you'll see. It's been updated, the resource guide, [00:27:06.390] this really walks you through every [00:27:08.400] part of the resource that we just looked at today. Doesn't [00:27:10.799] just focus on the updates, it focuses on, you know, the [00:27:12.818] resource as a whole. So what is it, [00:27:15.140] how you get started, find your contents. [00:27:17.519] This is a really great tool to use if you need to do [00:27:19.578] training quickly. Um But I would suspect [00:27:22.868] that we're gonna have the rest of the materials updated shortly [00:27:24.910] as well. Ok. But the resource [00:27:27.098] guide is a good place to head to for now. [00:27:31.039] All right, let me go back [00:27:33.108] to my slides here [00:27:35.118] and we will wrap up. [00:27:43.828] Ok. So after today, [00:27:46.930] if you'd like to connect with us, uh you do [00:27:49.000] have a customer success manager. You can email [00:27:51.078] at gale.customersuccess@cengage.com. [00:27:53.640] They're really great if you've got any questions about your [00:27:55.670] resources or Peterson's, you [00:27:57.680] also, if you don't have Peterson's yet you have a sales [00:27:59.750] consultant that you can access. Uh support.gale.com/repfinder [00:28:03.529] will help you figure out who that is. And [00:28:05.848] then just as I showed you the support site, support.gale.com [00:28:08.463] um has great information. Uh and [00:28:10.814] you can check any upcoming webinars that we may have [00:28:13.134] and then, and then check back to see what tools that we've updated [00:28:15.453] on the Peterson's page. But I do also [00:28:17.684] have a training session survey for you to take. [00:28:20.025] Let me know how I did any feedback on [00:28:22.074] the resources that we looked at. But I do [00:28:24.094] believe I have the session set up that, that after [00:28:26.473] we um wrap up here, it should open [00:28:28.594] on your desktop automatically. [00:28:30.848] Oh, ok. We have a question here. [00:28:32.989] So if someone asks, is there a way to track usage statistics [00:28:35.358] on topics completed within the course content? [00:28:37.640] I've only been able to do sessions and card [00:28:40.019] click count. So clicking on something, [00:28:43.650] Sarah, let me see, [00:28:46.719] Sarah. I would have to check with our product team and get [00:28:48.838] back to you on that because I'm not sure I see what you're saying about [00:28:50.959] tracking the specific usage. [00:28:52.660] You wanna know, like which of the course [00:28:54.680] contents they're using. [00:28:56.759] I'm not certain that you can, but I can definitely check [00:28:58.989] with our product team and get back to you. Let me write [00:29:01.130] that one down as well. [00:29:06.199] And then someone else asked uh we are long [00:29:08.338] time subscribers to test and or to test prep [00:29:10.529] and career prep. How do we convert? [00:29:12.588] You don't have to, it converted for you. So when we update [00:29:14.739] it on Monday, everybody's resources [00:29:16.969] um [00:29:18.009] updated with it. So it should already have the updated [00:29:20.170] platform for you. [00:29:27.259] OK. Any other questions? [00:29:34.459] All right. Well, I wanna thank you guys for [00:29:36.549] your time today. Check out our webinars [00:29:38.949] that way you can uh see what's coming up. Uh [00:29:41.009] I'm, I'm gonna hang on the line for a few minutes, [00:29:43.068] but otherwise I will see you [00:29:45.140] at our next session. All right. Thank you so much. Bye.
