[00:02:43.490] We also recommend adding Excel to [00:02:45.520] your A to Z list. If you have one, [00:02:48.629] if you currently offer a GED [00:02:51.159] task or high set program, [00:02:53.538] we recommend including Excel near [00:02:55.639] those as well. [00:03:01.808] When preparing to launch the program, [00:03:03.879] consider promoting Excel on your landing [00:03:06.240] page. [00:03:48.409] Newark Public Library used one [00:03:50.550] of the web icons available on the gale [00:03:52.659] support site on the bottom of their landing [00:03:54.969] page next to some of their other adult [00:03:57.149] learning resources. [00:04:03.599] Another option is creating an [00:04:05.649] additional header or drop down [00:04:08.069] specifically for Excel on your [00:04:10.189] landing page. [00:04:11.508] This allows the user very easy [00:04:13.588] access since it just takes one click [00:04:16.290] to access your student recruitment [00:04:18.358] site. So [00:04:24.829] let's talk about some ways to get [00:04:26.879] the word out. [00:04:31.428] We recommend collaborating with your team [00:04:33.959] and having an internal discussion about [00:04:36.220] local organizations that you want [00:04:38.420] to, to connect with. [00:04:40.778] You might already have some established partnerships [00:04:43.079] with businesses and organizations in your [00:04:45.170] community. Please leverage [00:04:47.439] these partnerships to promote Excel. [00:04:49.480] Don't be afraid to ask for student referrals. [00:04:52.329] You never know who is looking for an opportunity [00:04:54.850] like this. [00:04:56.298] Some suggestions here consider [00:04:58.988] partnering with nonprofit organizations, [00:05:01.980] job centers, local government [00:05:04.149] agencies, education [00:05:06.178] and career focused organizations [00:05:08.290] and the business community as well as they're always [00:05:10.790] in need of an educated workforce. [00:05:13.220] The bottom line is that your library [00:05:15.488] is now offering a chance of a lifetime [00:05:17.869] for those in need of a high school. Diploma. [00:05:20.160] So please don't be shy about getting the [00:05:22.199] word out. [00:05:29.028] I wont cover all of these because most [00:05:31.149] are pretty intuitive. But ID like to call out a [00:05:33.170] few when trying to [00:05:35.269] reach patrons, making sure your [00:05:37.350] front line staff is informed about [00:05:39.459] the program is really important. [00:05:42.278] They don't need to know all of the details [00:05:44.488] but enough to answer high level questions [00:05:46.850] and where to point potential applicants. [00:05:56.869] Another impactful way to promote the [00:05:58.939] program is to highlight an excel student [00:06:01.670] and certainly your first graduate, [00:06:04.149] many of them have compelling stories [00:06:06.278] that other potential candidates can relate [00:06:08.338] to interviewing [00:06:10.410] them for a newsletter or social [00:06:12.579] media post or even do a short [00:06:14.600] video. When [00:06:16.619] it comes to marketing outside of the library, [00:06:18.838] you need to be a little bit more creative. [00:06:21.500] We talked about leveraging community partnerships. [00:06:24.199] You can also try to get [00:06:26.399] additional free exposure with [00:06:28.838] public service announcements, [00:06:31.059] press releases on the [00:06:33.170] gale support site, we have press release templates [00:06:35.670] available for you to copy and paste [00:06:38.649] and then consider reaching out to your local [00:06:40.759] radio or TV stations to see [00:06:42.939] if they'll partner in some media coverage.
