[00:00:08.310] So again, hello everyone today we are going [00:00:10.470] to be exploring enhancements to gale's [00:00:12.589] Chilton library. My name is Amber [00:00:14.739] Winters and I am your Gale training consultant [00:00:16.870] for the day. [00:00:18.010] We also have Cynda Wood on the line [00:00:20.239] today. She's one of my colleagues who's going to be monitoring [00:00:22.568] the Q. And A. For me. Just again [00:00:24.588] we may be having a large crowd here so you [00:00:26.678] may get answers from her typed out, otherwise [00:00:29.088] I'll be answering them live for you. [00:00:31.949] So let's go ahead and get going going here. We've [00:00:33.990] got a lot to cover today. So first [00:00:36.029] off I do want to talk about both the contents [00:00:38.560] that's in Chilton Library [00:00:40.689] as well as the new enhancements of any of [00:00:42.770] you have been in recently we've almost [00:00:45.529] kind of completely revamped Chilton Library. [00:00:47.770] So we're going to go over all of those changes [00:00:49.819] today. after we talk [00:00:52.090] about the changes, we're actually going to see them, so [00:00:54.139] we'll take a a little bit of time to walk through the [00:00:56.189] resource. So you can see some of the different [00:00:58.478] workflows and some of the different tools that your [00:01:00.590] patrons or your students, if you're [00:01:02.679] tuning in from a school or from a, a college [00:01:05.638] will be able to navigate through [00:01:07.557] and then at the end of the session I will have [00:01:09.579] some closure information some contacts [00:01:12.159] for you in case you want to learn more about the resource [00:01:14.599] or want to maybe go over best practices or [00:01:16.658] things like that. And I will again [00:01:19.000] try to save time for any questions that you have [00:01:21.519] feel free to put them into the Q. And A. At any time. [00:01:24.500] but I will try to save some time at the very end [00:01:26.569] of the session as well. [00:01:30.010] So for those of you who are new to Chilton Library [00:01:32.509] or have never been in Chilton Library, [00:01:34.878] this is going to provide on demand automotive [00:01:37.430] information for your users. [00:01:39.557] So this is trusted for over 100 years. [00:01:41.587] of course they were previously tilted [00:01:43.829] manuals. they were print [00:01:46.055] copies. You had to keep them in a big shelf [00:01:48.152] on your library. of course those are [00:01:50.223] still being published but we've pulled all of that content [00:01:52.712] onto this nice platform, so you don't [00:01:54.875] need to worry about keeping track of all of those volumes [00:01:57.503] and you can also share with your patrons and have them take [00:01:59.734] the information with them wherever they want it to go. [00:02:03.108] It does contain a large selection of vehicles [00:02:05.739] at m all the way historic vehicles [00:02:08.337] up to currents and kind of everything in between. [00:02:11.550] and does include most years, makes [00:02:13.837] and models. And what's great is your patrons [00:02:15.949] are going to be able to really narrow down to a specific [00:02:18.399] vehicle so they'll be able to see that content [00:02:20.429] they're looking for [00:02:21.919] And the content is varied. So we include [00:02:24.038] step by step service and repair information, [00:02:26.478] which is what your patrons would see if they had [00:02:28.527] that physical copy of the Chilton manual [00:02:31.610] but we also include a video library. [00:02:34.300] So not only are they getting that text, [00:02:36.329] they can have visuals that are going kind of going [00:02:38.378] to support them. So if they're like [00:02:40.478] me and maybe they're not super great with computers [00:02:42.860] but they just want to let's say change their own [00:02:45.057] oil or maybe [00:02:46.688] change their own brakes or something like that. The [00:02:48.929] visual library is going to be really helpful because they're [00:02:51.050] going to see it in action. They're not only going to [00:02:53.057] read it, they're also going to kind of get [00:02:55.188] exactly what it's gonna look like when they [00:02:57.228] do it. We also include labor estimating [00:02:59.949] again, which is great for someone like me who's [00:03:02.020] not super familiar with cars. It [00:03:04.149] can help your patrons who may be taking their car [00:03:06.307] to a mechanic. They wanna make sure they [00:03:08.527] kind of know what to expect so they can take a look [00:03:10.699] at our labor estimating on the platform. [00:03:13.568] We also have great troubleshooting guys as [00:03:15.699] well as pictures and diagrams. [00:03:17.758] Again, just add another layer to the learning [00:03:20.128] another layer to what your patrons are going to see. We [00:03:22.250] don't just want them, to be reading through [00:03:24.389] this and maybe get a little bit confused because [00:03:26.699] it's very technical, we want them to have [00:03:28.758] that supplemental material that's really going [00:03:30.860] to bring it all together for them. [00:03:33.057] and finally we do include a S. [00:03:35.149] C. Test prep quizzes [00:03:37.319] in this resource as well. That's a hard [00:03:39.617] a hard title to say but we do have those quizzes [00:03:41.978] in here. So if you have users coming in who are [00:03:44.050] planning and taking some of those tests [00:03:46.218] you can forward them along to Chilton Library and they're [00:03:48.307] going to be able to find those actually right on the home page. [00:03:50.418] It's a really simple way for them to access that content. [00:03:55.087] Now before we take a look at enhancements I will just [00:03:57.168] stop quickly. Does anyone have any questions just [00:03:59.288] about that? Very basic information related [00:04:01.568] to Chilton Library [00:04:06.460] Ok I don't see anything in the Q [00:04:08.598] and A. So let's go ahead and get rolling then let's take a look [00:04:10.688] at these enhancements. [00:04:12.740] So first we've enhanced both the navigation [00:04:15.199] of the resource and the accessibility. [00:04:17.278] So we really redesigned the platform and actually [00:04:19.540] follows along. [00:04:21.088] fairly familiar with some of the other gale resources [00:04:23.548] you may have access to. But we've [00:04:25.608] really kind of decided designed it to streamline [00:04:28.168] both searching and browsing because we wanna make sure [00:04:30.497] our users can get the information they need as soon [00:04:32.627] as possible. We're trying to minimize clicking, [00:04:34.908] kind of minimize looking around, trying [00:04:36.968] to figure out exactly where they need to go. We've [00:04:39.108] made this nice and streamlined so they'll be able to find [00:04:41.228] the contents quickly when they need it. [00:04:44.189] We've also featured some of the navigation buttons [00:04:46.629] more prominently within the resource. [00:04:48.769] So again, as your users are starting to [00:04:50.829] click through, they're going to see how to get back [00:04:53.189] or forth or wherever they need to go. [00:04:55.588] The table of content which is found. Excuse [00:04:58.269] me. And a lot of our pages [00:05:00.350] also helps leave a clear bread chrome trail. [00:05:02.548] So they'll know what they've kind of clicked through. So if you take [00:05:04.709] a look at my screenshot here, This is [00:05:06.778] the breadcrumb trail I'm I'm looking [00:05:08.838] at so I can see each step I took [00:05:10.850] to get here to this specifications page. [00:05:13.237] So I can easily take a step back if [00:05:15.369] I need to or again take another step forward. [00:05:17.869] And again the table of contents here is on this [00:05:19.939] left hand side though. So so this is what's going to show [00:05:22.119] them where they are, where they've been and [00:05:24.358] potentially where they need to go. [00:05:26.838] In addition to that we have some enhanced readability [00:05:29.449] tools now. So users [00:05:31.639] have always been able to listen to Chilton as [00:05:33.829] they're clicking into it. They can have the articles read to [00:05:35.949] them. But now in addition to having those articles [00:05:38.389] read to them, they can also choose to change [00:05:40.459] the font, the color and the size [00:05:42.639] of the text on the screen to really customize [00:05:44.808] what they're looking at. So again, just [00:05:46.879] trying to add another layer of support and accessibility [00:05:49.600] for your users. If you have older patrons [00:05:51.798] coming in who may need that larger text [00:05:54.159] size, they'll be able to do that on [00:05:56.269] this platform here and again, just make sure they're getting [00:05:58.319] that content that they need. [00:06:01.899] We've also included a vin decoder [00:06:04.069] and search now. So if your patrons come [00:06:06.220] in with a very specific car in mind they actually [00:06:08.569] have the vin. They can search by that [00:06:10.649] vin and they'll find an overview of that [00:06:12.798] vehicle as well as different specifications. [00:06:15.730] The safety information. The [00:06:17.819] um [00:06:19.459] That's provided to us as [00:06:21.569] well as any recalls. So we do tag recalls [00:06:24.019] to different bins. So if your patrons aren't [00:06:26.170] quite sure if something needs to be updated, [00:06:28.660] they'll be able to kind of click [00:06:30.759] in there and take a look. Of course. Usually the manufacturer [00:06:33.040] reach out, reaches out, but it doesn't hurt for [00:06:35.170] us to have this content here as well. [00:06:40.088] Now, as I mentioned earlier, we also have a really [00:06:42.199] nice video library that we've actually tagged [00:06:44.350] to the home page now. So patrons can [00:06:46.487] click right into that without even choosing [00:06:48.798] a car. So if they don't have a specific car [00:06:51.000] in mind, they just kind of want to know how brakes work in general. [00:06:53.677] They can click into this video library, [00:06:55.808] you'll see we retain our table of contents [00:06:57.889] here on this left hand side and they can just [00:06:59.939] start to narrow it down and they can browse or [00:07:02.177] they can search so if they have something specific [00:07:04.220] in mind and don't want to have to navigate [00:07:06.350] through the table of contents, they can search right [00:07:08.439] on the video library and just pull [00:07:10.809] those specific videos [00:07:13.389] All of our videos do include captions [00:07:15.879] so they can easily read those as the [00:07:17.970] video is running and they can all be downloaded [00:07:20.470] for later use. So I will mention here that Chilton [00:07:22.790] Library is mobile responsive. [00:07:25.009] so if they prefer, they can download videos [00:07:27.028] and watch them say on their phone or on an ipad, [00:07:29.509] this is also great if they're planning on. [00:07:32.600] working on their cars and keeping Chilton [00:07:34.778] near them. They can pull up Chilton on [00:07:36.980] maybe a tablet or on their laptop [00:07:39.659] and they can actually read and watch Chilton [00:07:41.920] as they're doing whatever they're doing if they have [00:07:44.040] anyone from kind of the K 12 [00:07:46.259] arena on the line, this is really great for any [00:07:48.358] sort of [00:07:49.659] Auto Tech classes [00:07:51.980] that you have on campus. This is going [00:07:54.209] to help you kind of get engaged with that. [00:07:56.439] that class which I know is sometimes hard [00:07:58.528] to do. This is going to help them as [00:08:00.600] they walk through whatever they're planning on doing [00:08:02.720] to their cars. [00:08:06.399] finally we do have our A. S. E. Test [00:08:08.769] prep quizzes that have been updated as well. [00:08:11.230] We've updated the results [00:08:13.600] page. So you're easily going to be able to see [00:08:15.677] what we got correct, [00:08:17.177] if we got it incorrect, it's going to show [00:08:19.220] us what the correct answer is. And we've also [00:08:21.369] included this nice new view result [00:08:23.819] summary. So again, we're trying to make [00:08:26.000] this more accessible. That was one of our [00:08:28.019] key goals when we were updating this [00:08:30.028] platform so they can take a look [00:08:32.099] really quickly. If they don't have time to read through, [00:08:34.119] they can take a look what I got right, right [00:08:36.557] what I got wrong and they'll kind of move [00:08:38.739] forward from there. [00:08:40.250] So that is a nice new feature we've added to those [00:08:42.619] test prep quizzes, [00:08:46.349] Now I've taken enough time talking, I want [00:08:48.500] us to all take a look here. but [00:08:50.649] again, I will quickly pause anyone have [00:08:52.668] any questions about our [00:08:54.710] updates before we take a look at them. [00:09:01.129] OK, [00:09:02.048] I don't see it again. So here we are then [00:09:04.149] on the Chilton Library homepage [00:09:06.359] and again, as I mentioned [00:09:08.219] we have a question from David is the event search [00:09:10.307] new. It is new, yep, we just [00:09:12.369] launched it with this update, [00:09:17.580] which I think is a really great feature. Um [00:09:19.769] and I do see someone has their hand up [00:09:21.940] Theresa if you don't mind, go ahead and pop [00:09:24.080] your your question into the Q and A. And I'll be [00:09:26.177] able to answer that for you. [00:09:33.798] So let's go ahead and get started. I see there are a few more [00:09:35.840] questions in the chat. Um, I believe Cinda [00:09:38.038] is going to take a look at those while we keep it going here. [00:09:40.259] So you'll most likely get [00:09:41.739] a couple of responses from [00:09:43.769] her. We do have one question. Do you have a mobile app [00:09:45.840] to go with this? I don't believe we have [00:09:47.859] an app. We always just recommend going on [00:09:50.000] to their internet, a browser on their phone and [00:09:52.173] the browser itself is going to be mobile responsive. [00:09:54.715] So as opposed to going through the app, have [00:09:56.724] them sign in if it's um on your library's [00:09:58.744] website or something like that, have them sign on [00:10:01.004] to your library's website and then the platform they're going [00:10:03.224] to see will conform to the mobile [00:10:05.774] responsiveness [00:10:12.177] and just a quick question. will a recorded [00:10:14.219] version of this webinar be be available? It [00:10:16.298] will I'm going to send out a copy of [00:10:18.399] the recording tomorrow via email. So you'll [00:10:20.548] see that in your inbox, whatever email [00:10:22.820] you used to register for the session [00:10:24.700] and then one final question. How often do the [00:10:26.798] A. S. C. Questions get updated? [00:10:29.177] You know, David, I don't have an exact time [00:10:31.359] frame, I know they get updated as the tests [00:10:33.440] get updated. Um, but let me go to my product [00:10:35.750] manager and I can give you a a more clear answer [00:10:38.070] than that. [00:10:43.139] Ok, so let's go ahead and start [00:10:45.519] navigating through here [00:10:47.859] So again, this is our new and improved [00:10:50.000] home page. You may remember the old home page. [00:10:52.440] They signed in on this left hand side here. [00:10:54.677] It is a bit more plain, I have to admit. [00:10:56.840] we've updated that to make it look a lot more [00:10:58.879] appealing. You'll see now we've pulled to find your vehicle [00:11:01.570] right here into this nice visual [00:11:03.719] banner. So your patrons are going to be kind of really [00:11:06.080] directed to where they need to go [00:11:08.038] now before I find my vehicle, though, I want [00:11:10.269] to show you some of the other tools we have on this home [00:11:12.408] page. The first being that vin Dakota [00:11:14.649] I mentioned before, [00:11:16.090] So if I do have the vent here, I can click [00:11:18.210] directly into this as opposed to putting in [00:11:20.269] that year make and model [00:11:22.177] and when I do it's letting me know where I can find [00:11:24.320] my van. and I've [00:11:26.349] already got one saved here. So let's [00:11:28.599] go ahead and put in my bin, [00:11:33.778] So I popped that in there [00:11:35.769] check, you may have noticed.but we [00:11:37.830] also accept partial bins as well. [00:11:40.009] So if they have a partial, they can put it in there. [00:11:42.070] and hopefully they'll find the information they need with that [00:11:44.109] partial [00:11:45.538] but I've typed in the whole vin number. So I pulled up [00:11:47.619] my truck here. You'll see, it's giving me that [00:11:49.639] overview. So giving me the basic information [00:11:51.889] about the truck [00:11:53.788] the specifications and this is whatever [00:11:55.950] the um manufacturer gives [00:11:58.048] us. By the way, I will mention that. So some [00:12:00.229] manufacturers provide more public information [00:12:02.599] than others. So if your patrons are maybe [00:12:04.788] not quite looking finding what they're looking [00:12:07.048] for, most likely we just haven't gotten it from the manufacturer [00:12:09.668] yet, but we do update this continuously [00:12:11.989] as different manufacturers. Send us more [00:12:14.278] information. [00:12:17.729] And I have a question is the vin search [00:12:19.950] limited to vehicles in the US? [00:12:22.989] Kelly, that is a great question, [00:12:25.048] I'm going to assume. No, I believe [00:12:27.450] you can search through any vin, any car that [00:12:29.519] has a vin, [00:12:30.599] but again, I can't fully 100% [00:12:33.000] say that. So I will get with my product manager [00:12:35.057] again and let you know for sure. But I would [00:12:37.090] assume yes, because a lot of cars [00:12:39.307] will be, [00:12:40.710] um [00:12:41.639] built in other areas and they're still going to have [00:12:43.979] a vin. So let me just double check, check [00:12:46.109] that, but I would say most likely [00:12:48.250] yes. [00:12:52.849] So again, we have our event, I will quickly mention [00:12:55.139] after specifications if there's any safety [00:12:57.298] information we've gotten from the manufacturer [00:12:59.719] that's going to appear here as well, and [00:13:01.788] then we've also listed our recalls here, which [00:13:03.927] I personally think is a really nice feature, so [00:13:06.389] I can find recalls. If I ran [00:13:08.750] through my vehicle search, I'll show you where to find those [00:13:10.974] later on. But if I have my [00:13:13.024] exact bin, I don't even need to do that. I don't [00:13:15.052] have to search through a vehicle. I can pull these [00:13:17.224] recalls up right here. Isn't it [00:13:19.293] terrible to see the long list of recalls [00:13:21.354] you'll see in cars sometimes? but [00:13:23.394] I can pull those up here, I can drop this down and [00:13:25.484] I'm going to get just a quick summary here, [00:13:28.119] about these different recalls that I have here [00:13:31.080] and again, I see that someone has raised [00:13:33.250] their hand Patricia. If you don't mind, go [00:13:35.369] ahead and pop your question into the Q and [00:13:37.418] A. And we'll be able to answer that for you. [00:13:42.528] So that's what we have under our bin search. And again, [00:13:44.710] yes, this is the new feature that we just launched [00:13:47.239] but it is here available to [00:13:49.330] you right on our toolbar, you see up top here, [00:13:51.440] this toolbar is actually going to follow us around. [00:13:53.940] So even if I'm not in the home page, I can easily [00:13:56.057] click into whatever section I need to [00:13:59.139] So let's go ahead and move forward. So we took a look [00:14:01.278] at our Ben decoder, let's look now at our video [00:14:03.288] library, [00:14:05.239] So we have had these videos within Chilton [00:14:07.450] for a while but we've just recently pulled [00:14:09.820] together this nice library as kind of a separate [00:14:12.168] entity that's really easy to click into [00:14:14.259] to make sure they can get this comp [00:14:16.269] this content pretty simply. [00:14:19.048] And we have defaulted it to showing most [00:14:21.298] popular videos first. So these are the [00:14:23.379] ones that are clicked on the most, the ones [00:14:25.440] that are used the most they're going to pull these up here. [00:14:28.259] but on the left hand side here, you'll see our table [00:14:30.500] of content, so we can start narrowing it down [00:14:32.538] if I don't like exactly what I'm seeing here, [00:14:34.899] it's not what I'm looking for. I can start to [00:14:36.979] click into my table of content, so maybe I'm [00:14:39.099] interested in breaks. You'll [00:14:41.298] see sometimes there's another step [00:14:43.820] you'll see sometimes there's a few steps here. [00:14:46.359] which is great, we'll really be able to [00:14:48.389] narrow it down to exactly what we're looking for. Again, this [00:14:50.489] is going to help. [00:14:52.840] this is going to help your patrons as [00:14:54.969] they're navigating through. If I click into one of these [00:14:58.048] videos here, I'm just going to pause it because [00:15:00.210] we're not going to listen to it too much. but [00:15:02.427] again, as I mentioned, we do have closed [00:15:04.619] captions here. If I hit my little [00:15:06.840] three button icon down here [00:15:09.038] in this right hand corner, this is [00:15:11.129] where I'll be able to download this. [00:15:13.690] So if I want to take this with me again, if I'm [00:15:16.109] going to be on my phone, maybe I want to take [00:15:18.177] a look at it later or something like that. I can [00:15:20.500] easily download that. I can download it to my desktop [00:15:22.869] as well. You'll see here where our captions [00:15:25.379] are. And we also have a playback [00:15:27.820] speed option. So if a patron [00:15:29.960] maybe needs it to be slowed down, they can do that. [00:15:32.129] Or if they're maybe trying to get this done quickly [00:15:34.489] and it's talking a little bit too slow for them, they can [00:15:36.668] speed it up. [00:15:38.769] They'll be able to do that here. [00:15:41.340] and then again, we've included popular [00:15:43.379] videos here on this left hand. I'm sorry at this right [00:15:45.469] hand side. If they want to take a look back [00:15:47.950] at those popular videos [00:15:54.807] and I have a question here how up to date [00:15:57.210] is recall information? So [00:15:59.489] anna we put in the recall information as soon [00:16:01.500] as we get them from the manufacturer. [00:16:04.278] So it really just depends on when they send it out publicly. [00:16:06.690] But once they send it, what's really nice about Chilton [00:16:08.918] Library is we can actually make changes [00:16:11.830] kind of on demand as needed. So as [00:16:13.927] we get more content it really immediately goes [00:16:16.440] into the resource and they're going to see it [00:16:19.057] as soon as it populates. So, [00:16:21.690] your answer, it's as up to date [00:16:23.750] as the manufacturer sends it over to us, [00:16:26.639] which again might vary slightly depending [00:16:29.019] on man on manufacturer. [00:16:33.820] And another question from Melissa. So this can be used outside [00:16:36.149] of the library. It most certainly can [00:16:38.288] what they're going to do is however, you [00:16:40.379] have it set up to authenticate, so maybe it's using [00:16:42.599] a password, maybe it's using a bar code, something [00:16:44.750] like that. they'll be able to use [00:16:46.798] that on this platform, they'll be able to sign [00:16:49.038] in wherever they are. So [00:16:51.048] If you have a patron or a student, [00:16:53.190] if you're from AK-12 library, who wants [00:16:55.408] to use this on their own, they'll just go onto your library's [00:16:57.729] page, they'll click into this link, [00:17:00.090] they'll be asked to authenticate however you already [00:17:02.129] have it set up and then boom their [00:17:04.160] lunch right in and they can use it wherever they want to. [00:17:14.900] Ok. And thank you anonymous for putting that [00:17:16.979] question in there. That is a really nice suggestion. [00:17:19.500] So I do appreciate that. I'll forward that along to [00:17:21.979] my product team [00:17:24.846] So let's move forward here from our video [00:17:26.958] library. I want to take a look now at our A. S. [00:17:29.107] C. Test. Prep quizzes [00:17:32.719] So when I click into these here you'll see I have them [00:17:34.900] all nice and organized. [00:17:37.150] You'll see I do provide a number of questions [00:17:39.538] here so they'll be able to see how long make [00:17:41.808] sure they have enough time to run through these quizzes [00:17:44.357] and then it does provide the question types here [00:17:46.430] as well. All of our quizzes are multiple [00:17:48.577] choice [00:17:50.077] so let's go ahead and click into we'll just [00:17:52.160] do our top one here. [00:17:54.180] so you'll see they're prompted just to answer all of these. [00:17:56.357] I'm just going to answer a few here. Hopefully [00:17:58.798] I'll get one right so we can see what that looks like. [00:18:01.357] but they're going to go through and answer all of these, [00:18:03.920] we'll go to the bottom and submit our quiz. [00:18:08.509] and it's going to let me know if I didn't attempt any [00:18:10.719] questions but that's fine with [00:18:12.750] me. I'm going to hit confirm [00:18:16.788] and I can see here it looks like I didn't get any rights [00:18:19.150] which is a bum I usually random clicking [00:18:21.430] I can get at least one right but not today. So [00:18:23.949] it's going to give us this really nice information [00:18:26.189] here so I can see my results. If I were to [00:18:28.250] get anything right it would appear in green. [00:18:30.548] You'll see I got everything wrong and you'll [00:18:32.630] see. I've gotten some that I didn't attempt [00:18:36.367] And then in kind of the body here on this left hand [00:18:38.420] side, it's going to show what I answered [00:18:40.778] and it's also going to show the correct [00:18:42.788] answer here, so they can really easily [00:18:44.969] study right from this page if they like to [00:18:49.500] and now I can close this out [00:18:51.920] and I'm launched back into the same section [00:18:54.038] so I can click into any of these other exams [00:18:56.357] that I'm planning on taking in the future and see [00:18:58.449] how I do on these practices as well. [00:19:01.900] And we've got a question for Maria asking [00:19:04.278] about the ask an expert [00:19:06.500] section. So let me go ahead and click into that. [00:19:08.680] That's actually our next section over from [00:19:10.788] our A. S. E. Test prep quizzes [00:19:13.709] So when you ask an expert we [00:19:16.107] go ahead and put your information here and [00:19:18.170] by expert, we're talking about an expert here at [00:19:20.219] gale who's going to help walk you through your question. [00:19:23.038] So you can type in anything you need help with [00:19:25.087] and we'll be able to respond to you. We do again [00:19:27.199] monitor that continuously. [00:19:29.489] So you'll hear a response, you'll hear a response [00:19:31.867] quickly. [00:19:40.259] Ok, so it looks like we've got all of [00:19:42.390] our questions answered [00:19:44.400] so far. So let's go ahead and click [00:19:46.617] into our vehicle search then. And this is the way a [00:19:48.719] lot of your patrons are probably already accessing [00:19:51.160] information is by putting in a year [00:19:53.269] make and model. So let's go ahead and do that. Um [00:19:55.890] Any questions at all that haven't been answered? [00:19:57.989] I don't see in the Q. And A. But I wanna make sure we have [00:20:00.048] time to answer. [00:20:02.949] Oh ok. [00:20:04.390] so I'm going to go ahead and hit vehicle search [00:20:06.788] in my toolbar here, [00:20:09.880] and you'll see this actually launch launches back [00:20:12.097] to the home page. [00:20:15.259] looks like you have another question is the the ask [00:20:17.390] an expert feature 24 [00:20:19.538] 7. [00:20:21.150] I believe it is. Let me take [00:20:23.259] a look here [00:20:25.140] I would certainly say the best way to do this is [00:20:27.380] to send a message. Um but [00:20:29.577] I believe it is 24/7 [00:20:41.097] Ok, so let's go ahead and find a vehicle [00:20:43.410] here. So [00:20:45.949] I'm just going to put in [00:20:47.650] got a car, my husband [00:20:49.750] and I had a while ago that we we drove [00:20:52.077] till it till it died. So [00:20:54.189] we're gonna do a 28 2008 [00:20:58.009] chevy and pala here. [00:21:00.058] So we're just going to choose our year our make [00:21:03.327] we're going to narrow down our model here, you'll see [00:21:05.410] it's going to provide all of those for me, [00:21:08.660] and I'm going to hit select. [00:21:12.067] and now I'm launched here to the main section [00:21:14.140] that's going to be walking through [00:21:16.759] my Chevy and palette with me. [00:21:19.189] It looks like we have another question. What is your source [00:21:21.250] for the test questions. So [00:21:23.269] those come directly from the A. S. [00:21:25.327] C. group. [00:21:27.150] So they're going to come directly from them. We were able [00:21:29.390] to upload those into our resource here. [00:21:37.880] Ok, so let's take a look at this. Now. I've chosen my [00:21:40.019] vehicle. I don't have the vin so I couldn't [00:21:42.269] go in that way. I decided to type in [00:21:44.317] my vehicle here. I will mention [00:21:46.337] you'll see I can change my vehicle at any time [00:21:48.500] by clicking into this button. [00:21:50.009] I could also just click back into vehicle search [00:21:52.180] if I wanted to but we're going to stay with our vehicle [00:21:54.519] here. and you'll see a default [00:21:56.788] to starting off with our repair information. [00:21:59.180] You'll see this kind of sub [00:22:02.548] toolbar underneath our main toolbar. [00:22:05.160] It starts off with repair here. So scrolling [00:22:07.250] down just like with our video library, [00:22:09.357] we keep this nice table of contents here [00:22:11.390] to help them navigate through. If [00:22:13.469] they know exactly what they're looking for. Of course they [00:22:15.479] don't need to do that. They can just start their search [00:22:17.519] here. If they do run a search here [00:22:19.567] on the table of contents, it's just going to search [00:22:21.680] whatever page they're on so it's just [00:22:23.867] going to pull repair. They're not going to see any maintenance [00:22:26.269] information when they're on this repair [00:22:28.420] section [00:22:30.269] Well let's just have to click through so let's drop [00:22:32.798] down the breaks. I used that earlier. So [00:22:34.939] we'll do that again so I can drop down. I can [00:22:37.150] maybe drop down again. [00:22:40.930] if I want to I can actually close that so that wasn't [00:22:43.019] what I was looking for. [00:22:44.337] we can click into this one and [00:22:46.420] let's just say we're gonna believe the brake system [00:22:51.028] I don't know what that means, [00:22:52.577] but your patrons will so they'll [00:22:54.689] easily be able to click into this here [00:22:57.048] again. We have our listen tool up here, we'll take [00:22:59.117] a look at it just one second. [00:23:01.150] We can also print this article. So if we want [00:23:03.229] to hold on to it for later, we can really easily [00:23:05.500] do that. It doesn't have to stay on this platform. [00:23:08.239] You can write this article that's going directly to [00:23:10.250] gale so we can make sure [00:23:12.729] Excuse me. so we can make sure we're [00:23:14.750] meeting everyone's needs. You know, if we get some feedback, [00:23:16.808] that's not great, we're gonna want to know why. [00:23:18.900] so we'll be able to pull that information. It is seen [00:23:22.298] by also regularly [00:23:26.390] So let's go ahead and scroll down a little bit more because [00:23:28.630] I do want to show you a lot of times we have these [00:23:30.750] nice images kind of built into these articles [00:23:33.719] and I can click underneath. You'll see if you got [00:23:35.759] a PDF option down here. That's [00:23:37.989] going to let me see this a little bit closer up so [00:23:40.087] a lot of these diagrams are going to be a bit more detailed. [00:23:42.449] This one's a little simpler but lots [00:23:44.699] of them are going to have different sections that are [00:23:46.709] going to be [00:23:48.449] labeled with different terms, all that [00:23:50.519] good stuff. So this is a little bit more simple [00:23:52.949] for your patrons, but we do include [00:23:55.229] the links to those underneath all [00:23:57.269] of the images here, [00:24:00.969] Now. If I hit the listen option, I'm actually going to pause [00:24:03.347] it because I haven't shared my [00:24:05.788] my video with you. But when I hit that [00:24:08.067] you'll see. I can hit start, play all that good stuff. [00:24:10.430] These hit my little hamburger [00:24:12.439] icon here. [00:24:14.038] and when I do that there's this text mode [00:24:16.140] option. [00:24:17.607] So clicking into that text mode, it's going to pull [00:24:19.750] forward all of the article [00:24:21.969] itself into this little window. Now [00:24:24.150] the reason we do this is because we have some really [00:24:26.209] nice features that are going to help [00:24:28.430] them manipulate this text and we just [00:24:30.548] can't do it in the standard platform. So when you [00:24:32.617] pull this up here [00:24:34.607] You see I have the option to increase or decrease [00:24:36.689] the f I can [00:24:39.000] choose the volume of this. [00:24:41.827] I can again choose the reading speed. [00:24:43.890] So if I need it to be slowed down a little bit or [00:24:45.959] sped up, I can do that here. [00:24:48.229] And then I also have this nice text settings. [00:24:50.930] So this is where I'm going to be able to change [00:24:53.130] the font size, the font type as well as [00:24:55.189] the text colors and the text [00:24:57.259] spacing here. So let's just say [00:24:59.288] I want to change the font here. [00:25:02.067] We do include the dyslexia font [00:25:04.337] for users. So if you have a user [00:25:06.680] who needs that sort of support, they can do that. [00:25:09.867] Pop this up here [00:25:11.317] and we're going to be able to change this here for [00:25:13.459] your users. [00:25:17.577] We've had a few questions pulled [00:25:19.788] up here. So let me just kind of take a quick [00:25:22.219] look here. So is a labor estimator [00:25:24.479] available for makes and models prior to [00:25:26.528] the 1980s example, a 1965 [00:25:29.269] for must Ford Mustang. [00:25:31.867] I don't know if that exact model [00:25:33.910] has labor estimating, but yes, generally [00:25:36.367] they'll find older models kind of dating [00:25:38.699] back a bit. The older they get most likely [00:25:40.719] the less content we'll have just because there has been [00:25:42.759] less published by the manufacturer. [00:25:44.817] So we're talking very, very old most [00:25:47.180] likely they won't find content, but for 1965 [00:25:49.979] Ford Mustang. Again, I don't know that exact [00:25:52.067] make and model, but yes, you'll most likely [00:25:54.337] find labor estimating for older models like that. [00:25:58.640] Another question. Does this database include [00:26:00.739] a citation tool? It does not [00:26:02.759] right now that is definitely a great piece of feedback [00:26:05.077] though so I can certainly get that to my product manager. [00:26:07.380] But as of right now we don't have a citation [00:26:09.719] tool. [00:26:14.910] Another question. can we print [00:26:17.130] the adjusted and large version of the text, [00:26:19.759] you know, I haven't tried it. So let's go ahead and try it right [00:26:21.798] now. So let me click back into my text mode [00:26:23.989] here. Hm [00:26:29.269] it looks like we can't for this enhanced text [00:26:31.640] mode. Um of course, if you hit print [00:26:33.788] screen, it will let you do it that way. [00:26:35.989] Um but it looks like we don't have a button right now, that's [00:26:38.150] going to allow us to do that. So if we do [00:26:40.259] want to print, we'll have to stick with the [00:26:42.308] main body here. [00:26:48.097] Ok. Great. So it looks like all of our questions [00:26:50.479] are answered so let's go ahead and keep moving [00:26:52.719] here. [00:26:53.660] So again, as I clicked through repair, I [00:26:55.750] have got a breadcrumb trail listed here. [00:26:58.479] Ok, so I can see exactly where I've been. [00:27:00.528] If I want to take steps forward, I can [00:27:02.769] certainly do that. If I want to take steps back, [00:27:04.788] I can do that as well, [00:27:06.969] So let's, let's move on to maintenance here. [00:27:09.058] So, maybe we're not trying to fix anything with our car. [00:27:11.209] Maybe we just want to make sure, we're [00:27:13.500] up to date with what our car [00:27:15.597] needs. I want to make sure we're not, falling behind [00:27:17.847] and maybe hurting our car in the process. [00:27:20.170] You'll see when I click into maintenance here. It's [00:27:22.469] going to ask me for a sub model, liters, [00:27:24.607] fuel type number of cylinders, all that [00:27:26.640] good stuff. If I don't know this because [00:27:28.650] this is a little bit more advanced. You know, if you [00:27:30.719] ask me the drive type of my car, I honestly [00:27:32.979] couldn't tell you. if I don't know that. [00:27:36.058] I can pull forward right next to the vehicle configuration, [00:27:38.920] a full chart list. [00:27:41.140] So I'm going to see all of the different sub models [00:27:43.380] here as opposed to see there's a lot of pages so [00:27:45.597] it's better if they know. but [00:27:47.680] I can see all of the different sub models here [00:27:49.699] and I can take a look [00:27:52.597] and once I choose one of these you'll see I have a drop [00:27:54.857] down under the select option. That's going [00:27:57.087] to ask if I want to know about just maintenance [00:27:59.229] in general. If I want to see if there's any [00:28:01.439] additional related to a normal [00:28:03.617] wear or a severe wear [00:28:06.239] we'll just click into maintenance one and 2. [00:28:11.189] And again, this is coming directly from the manufacturer. [00:28:13.729] So this is going to tell us what's needed [00:28:16.048] for our different maintenance entries [00:28:18.449] for that 2008 Chevy impala. [00:28:22.577] scrolling down. We also have some notes listed [00:28:24.587] here. So again, coming directly [00:28:26.788] from the manufacturer, if you see some strange [00:28:28.817] things happening. This may be [00:28:30.920] a good place to take a look to make sure you're not missing [00:28:32.959] anything. [00:28:35.587] Another question, what is the oldest make model [00:28:37.969] and year of any vehicle in the Children library. [00:28:40.509] Um, so I don't have the exact make, but [00:28:42.587] I believe the year is going all the [00:28:44.597] way back to um, [00:28:46.390] I want it in the thirties. we [00:28:48.617] go pretty far back, of course, as I mentioned, [00:28:50.729] the further back we go, the less content [00:28:53.219] we're going to have available just because it wasn't [00:28:55.347] published but what you can do, [00:28:57.410] if you want to see exactly what's, as [00:28:59.459] far back as we go. If you click into [00:29:01.587] the vehicle search, you can just scroll down in the year [00:29:03.699] and to see the first year we have, content. [00:29:05.979] So, I believe we're hitting it in [00:29:08.077] the thirties, but it may be even earlier [00:29:10.327] than that So [00:29:17.857] again, our maintenance is listed here. [00:29:20.538] You'll see, I could print this option as well, [00:29:23.617] OK. It looks like an anonymous attendee [00:29:25.739] already took a look at that year so I was incorrect. [00:29:28.097] It's not the 30s, it looks like it goes as far back as [00:29:30.209] 1941. [00:29:33.837] thank you for checking on that for me. I appreciate it. [00:29:38.827] Ok, so we've got our maintenance now, you'll [00:29:41.009] see I can pop back at any time here if I want [00:29:43.130] to change this up as well [00:29:46.259] but moving on for maintenance, we have our labor [00:29:48.298] estimating here [00:29:50.107] pull this up here. [00:29:51.558] Now again, this is going to require [00:29:53.857] our table of contents so we can pull [00:29:55.900] forward exactly what we want to estimate [00:29:58.150] because of course, there's a lot that you might need [00:30:00.209] to repair it on your car. So I'm gonna just [00:30:02.449] stick with brakes today. Let's stick with brakes [00:30:04.558] here. Um, we want to service our brakes, [00:30:07.048] maybe want brake pads [00:30:09.130] and replacement [00:30:12.019] scrolling down here. So you'll see, we've [00:30:14.170] got two different time categories. So [00:30:16.298] a regular wear. We've also got [00:30:18.548] a severe wear. So if your car's got some on [00:30:20.837] it, you might be in that severe category, [00:30:23.077] but you can navigate between them to kind [00:30:25.107] of see the difference here. [00:30:27.298] and you'll see the dealer hours as well as the [00:30:29.347] Chilton expected hours. So [00:30:31.367] the dealer hours are provided just to [00:30:33.459] expect from the dealer. that's what they [00:30:35.509] expect their mechanics [00:30:37.719] to spend doing whatever it is. The [00:30:40.009] Chilton time hours is going to include mechanics [00:30:42.298] not affiliated with that specific [00:30:44.519] manufacturer, [00:30:46.528] so you get that information here. [00:30:49.640] We have another question. What's the newest year of vehicles [00:30:52.019] we will be able to get information about? [00:30:54.038] So [00:30:55.097] as manufacturers roll out [00:30:57.219] the vehicles most likely they're gonna send us the Chilton [00:30:59.449] information. So I believe we [00:31:01.489] do have 2002 on here already. [00:31:03.519] We may have some I'm [00:31:05.719] sorry 2022 [00:31:08.380] I'm looking at 2008. we [00:31:10.489] do have 2 [00:31:11.837] 2022 information [00:31:14.630] out onto this platform. [00:31:16.969] they'll be able to click into that [00:31:20.150] but again, that will be constantly changing. So, [00:31:22.469] I like to say the newer models and the older, [00:31:24.729] older models are going to have less content just [00:31:26.817] because they have less from the manufacturer, but generally [00:31:29.390] you're going to get the newest information pretty quickly [00:31:31.699] because they send that to that, that to [00:31:33.827] us almost immediately [00:31:41.607] Another question. We are launching Chilton at [00:31:43.689] our library will be able to include [00:31:45.788] our logo on the landing page. So [00:31:47.890] anonymous attendee, I recommend talking [00:31:50.009] to your customer success manager. They're [00:31:52.107] going to be able to help you through all of that process. [00:31:54.769] Um I'm actually going to give you their contact information [00:31:56.979] at the end of this session. [00:31:58.689] so I suggest reaching out to them. They'll be able [00:32:00.709] to kind of go over everything with you today. [00:32:06.077] But once I choose whatever [00:32:08.367] I want to service again, you'll see I get the information [00:32:10.827] here how long it's expected to take [00:32:12.837] in the dealer versus not the dealer, [00:32:15.827] And what I love is this is going to just give me some [00:32:17.847] basics, you know, if I am planning [00:32:19.890] on going in to get something done and I don't want to be [00:32:22.229] maybe taken advantage of, Not that I'm [00:32:24.489] necessarily worried about someone taking advantage, [00:32:26.769] but it gives you peace of mind if you take [00:32:28.920] a look and you see. Ok, well, servicing our brakes [00:32:30.989] should take 1.5 hours. So [00:32:33.087] really I should be charged for around 1.5 [00:32:35.548] hours and you get to the mechanic and maybe [00:32:37.680] they say, you know, this is gonna take us, [00:32:39.617] three hours and you know, you might want to push [00:32:41.650] back a little bit. I think that might be a little bit excessive [00:32:44.058] from what I've heard. It's not going to take that long. [00:32:46.160] I just want to make sure I'm not being overcharged. [00:32:49.160] So this is a great way [00:32:51.469] Just to give yourself some peace of mind if you are [00:32:53.597] planning on getting something serviced [00:32:55.769] to get that estimate. [00:32:58.587] and then finally the last option [00:33:00.989] we have here is going to be our bulletins in [00:33:03.038] recalls section here. [00:33:09.067] So scrolling down here, hm [00:33:11.769] Excuse me. You'll see. I've got some filters [00:33:14.000] listed here. I think this is beneficial because [00:33:16.048] if you take a look we've got 1,107 [00:33:19.259] results found related to our car. [00:33:21.269] So most likely we're going to want [00:33:23.400] to narrow that down a little bit. You'll see I can choose [00:33:25.577] based on my system. If I'm having [00:33:27.867] a specific symptom, I can search [00:33:29.939] that. Or if I'm pulling a trouble code, [00:33:32.028] I can take a look at what that trouble code means here as [00:33:34.067] well. I [00:33:36.827] can also narrow it down to only showing recalls. [00:33:39.327] So that's not including any technical [00:33:41.528] bulletins. Not every bulletin includes [00:33:44.150] a recall. So if I only want to see the actual [00:33:46.390] recalls themselves, I can do that here. [00:33:48.910] Or if I have a TSB number here, [00:33:50.989] that's related to my car, I can go ahead and pop that [00:33:53.067] in there as well and we'll have that information [00:33:57.867] and you'll see when I take a look at these. I can [00:33:59.920] have a read speaker, read this to me [00:34:02.930] or I can have my [00:34:05.038] PDF here and some of these might actually [00:34:07.367] have the manufacturers emblem [00:34:09.599] on them, their logo on them because they do come directly [00:34:11.898] from manufacturer. But you'll see they click [00:34:13.969] into these, we're giving a brief bit of information [00:34:16.139] and they can take that with them wherever they need it [00:34:18.228] to go. and [00:34:20.378] of course, depending on what the bulletin or the recall [00:34:22.719] is telling us. it may be longer [00:34:24.780] or shorter, but you also see we [00:34:26.789] provide the type of information that it is [00:34:29.090] here as well. [00:34:33.137] And now I can also print this information if [00:34:35.277] I would like to. You'll see I have a print button here [00:34:37.527] as well as I did on some of the other pages. [00:34:40.728] So we've got that available here. And if [00:34:42.867] at any time again I wanted to change my vehicle, [00:34:45.407] you know, I I learned all I needed to learn about my [00:34:47.498] 2008 Chevy impala [00:34:49.378] and I want to change it up here. I can click change [00:34:51.498] it and maybe I want to take a look at my current [00:34:53.579] car instead of my old car. I can [00:34:55.768] do that right here. Just change this nice and simple. [00:35:01.010] So, we've got about some 10 [00:35:03.418] minutes left or so. [00:35:05.030] , so I do want to get my contact [00:35:07.050] information over to you all to make sure you have [00:35:09.110] access to that. [00:35:11.349] by May I mean all of the people at g who are [00:35:13.458] going to help you out. If you have questions [00:35:16.250] that you haven't typed in yet, feel [00:35:18.289] free to answer those now and I will be able to [00:35:20.369] go through all of that with you. [00:35:22.360] But I do have some additional material that's going [00:35:24.500] to help you out. So first I'm actually going [00:35:26.679] to post in the chat. We've just created [00:35:29.000] a new resource guide that's going over [00:35:31.188] all of the different tools and features [00:35:33.739] that we've added to Chilton Library. [00:35:36.250] So, if you want to have something that you can, [00:35:38.309] you know, print out and take with you, maybe you want to forward [00:35:40.469] it along to patrons. maybe you wanna [00:35:42.570] share it with your colleagues. [00:35:44.320] I just put that in the chat for you, you'll be [00:35:46.418] able to pull that guide, print out and take [00:35:48.510] it with you wherever you want to go. [00:35:52.559] Oh, so we've actually gotten a response. [00:35:54.889] so we had a question earlier [00:35:57.000] about the vin decoder if it's going [00:35:59.148] to work in [00:36:00.989] countries other than the United States [00:36:03.429] and we had someone in Canada check with their [00:36:05.510] car and in fact the vin did get results. [00:36:07.628] So we've got our answer there that we weren't [00:36:09.889] able to get earlier. So thank you kelly so [00:36:11.969] much for checking that I really appreciate it. I'm [00:36:14.300] also very impressed that you managed to get the vin [00:36:16.478] so fast. That's that's very impressive. [00:36:18.849] So thank you for that [00:36:22.809] Ok, so let's go ahead. Oops. [00:36:25.369] Sorry guys, I'm just scrolling all over the place. David, [00:38:05.809] I'm not quite sure. [00:38:07.199] I haven't clicked through on Tesla recently. [00:38:10.260] but we just share the diagrams. We [00:38:12.369] can [00:38:13.699] Tesla may not be the best at getting us content. [00:38:16.268] I can't give me an answer on that [00:38:18.378] one, but thank you for that.
