right is is support [00:05:19.699] Student Success and [00:05:28.699] understanding by Design the second edition so [00:05:30.800] both the first and second edition are still [00:05:33.000] trending and very popular I love [00:05:35.399] this quote I pulled it out from one of [00:05:37.399] the second edition features [00:05:40.100] are diners in essential Act [00:05:42.199] of our profession is the crafting of [00:05:44.300] curriculum and learning experiences [00:05:46.399] to meet specified purposes [00:05:48.800] we have a purpose and we [00:05:51.000] are focusing and pulling from extra key [00:05:53.100] lime we are technically designing [00:05:55.600] that learning experience [00:05:58.000] for our students so thought [00:06:00.000] it was a great way to put it into perspective and [00:06:02.600] not just teaching designing [00:06:05.399] that information for them to and [00:06:08.000] then another title is building [00:06:10.199] teachers talk [00:06:16.600] about this was a get what we need done [00:06:36.699] how can we focus on that this is a great [00:06:38.899] title to look at not just guilty [00:06:41.199] time but other different ways to have [00:06:43.399] that [00:06:54.600] is really I [00:06:56.800] think we're focusing on it more now [00:06:58.800] which is fantastic but teaching [00:07:00.800] with poverty in mind what being poor [00:07:02.800] does to kids brains and what schools can do [00:07:04.899] about it you have students that [00:07:06.899] they're not learning worried about [00:07:09.000] what they're going to learn that day they may be worried [00:07:11.000] about where their next [00:07:13.100] meal that come from or maybe they're you [00:07:15.199] know the high school level they're dealing with teenage pregnancy [00:07:17.600] or other [00:07:22.500] adult problems that they're dealing with and how can [00:07:24.600] we help them how can we make sure that Natalie I'm [00:07:34.500] better I love it thank you have a schools can [00:11:12.100] sign people focus so different [00:11:14.299] in [00:11:17.600] their own buildings and I have [00:11:19.600] a person if you're interested in them [00:11:22.600] cars that can help you build the [00:11:24.700] sound customize it on your customer [00:11:26.700] success manager is there a great great [00:11:29.500] help and support looking [00:11:34.899] at the platform of gvrl at [00:11:37.600] the very top again there's those links that [00:11:39.700] I talked about we have Google Classroom [00:11:42.100] I'm already signed into my Google Drive [00:11:44.399] and since I'm an educator it automatically [00:11:46.600] puts me into my Google Classroom to and [00:11:49.299] then I can sign in with Microsoft OneDrive recently [00:11:52.500] we added the ability to change [00:11:54.700] the language on the platform itself [00:11:57.100] so you're done and [00:11:59.399] you're on tool box on the right hand side [00:12:01.399] will all be changed to the 223 [00:12:04.000] languages so if you should decide to change [00:12:06.100] it to Spanish it would change all [00:12:08.100] of the navigation and then the toolbox on [00:12:10.100] the right hand side but you also have the ability [00:12:12.200] to translate each individual [00:12:14.399] article so that's an option [00:12:16.500] too we [00:12:19.200] have the basic Source part which is quite [00:12:21.399] powerful definitely [00:12:23.399] suggest unless you're looking for a specific title [00:12:25.399] but even then you can do a publication [00:12:27.399] search and search for specific play [00:12:34.799] powerful magic searching through all [00:12:37.500] sorts of books an entire collection over [00:12:39.899] 300 titles and looking for one [00:12:42.399] subject category and second so [00:12:44.799] instead of looking through each individual table [00:12:47.299] contents are in. Here [00:12:49.399] we do that for you are [00:12:51.799] ready [00:12:59.399] different options I briefly mentioned I'm [00:13:01.399] just going to open it real quick for you here this with [00:13:21.799] this ebook collection because [00:13:23.799] it is professional development and [00:13:25.799] it would be used more for your general [00:13:28.399] gvrl collection that you would within the database [00:14:08.100] and another the more button I just [00:14:10.200] want to show you real quick you do [00:14:12.200] have that [00:14:15.799] if you're really struggling or want to go back and review [00:14:17.899] some information that I've gone over I'm [00:14:19.899] going to your help button in your database itself [00:14:22.000] the dictionary is there [00:14:24.000] your Titleist so you can see all the [00:14:26.000] titles that you have access to a new Kindle [00:14:28.100] hyperlinks you can actually click on that title [00:14:30.200] name and go directly to that [00:14:32.700] you booked your search history anything [00:14:34.899] you search for here now this discussion day [00:14:36.899] so if I close out that he will [00:14:38.899] go back to having nothing in [00:14:40.899] it and I like to know to my folder [00:14:43.100] these are also show you how [00:14:45.200] these both are used [00:14:47.399] okay so let's start with a basic [00:14:49.500] search [00:14:53.600] popular I [00:14:55.700] do have a cyst [00:14:57.700] that popped up which is very helpful so [00:15:06.799] sweet kind of shirt start by [00:15:09.000] and I'm at relevant that's what if the faulted [00:15:11.100] you but I could choose document title [00:15:13.200] publication date of publication title or content [00:15:15.600] level they're [00:15:17.799] all going to be a dance but again [00:15:20.000] if you're using gvrl with your [00:15:22.200] non fiction reference collection [00:15:24.399] for your school or your public library or [00:15:26.399] you could use those content level [00:15:28.600] and looking here [00:15:30.600] we have / 341 different [00:15:33.000] titles different articles [00:15:35.000] related to come and [00:15:37.000] what we see when we first look at the first [00:15:39.000] title if you do have a cover by click on [00:15:41.000] this cover it will take me to the table of contents I [00:15:44.200] can put right into that article so [00:15:46.299] instead of going through the cover and going [00:15:48.500] to the table of contents and then just trying to find [00:15:50.500] this article this takes me directly into the [00:15:52.600] article I [00:15:55.500] have a brief summary I [00:15:57.700] can go into just viewing the e-book [00:15:59.700] itself because it will take you [00:16:01.799] if you cook in the article it take you to the cats [00:16:04.000] can you have some great tools [00:16:06.000] in the toolbox or I can save this [00:16:08.100] in my folder and I'm going to save a couple of these [00:16:10.200] titles because I want to come back and show you [00:16:12.399] how to use that hopefully [00:16:14.600] you can either article again [00:16:17.899] and again because these these [00:16:19.899] books are focused on this [00:16:22.500] subject so [00:16:29.899] you're at 341 title that's quite a [00:16:31.899] bit I'm old and majority of them are topic overview [00:16:33.899] to do you look at document type but [00:16:36.100] you can quickly go to just the teacher [00:16:38.399] tools if [00:16:41.200] I want to take that out I just closed it right [00:16:43.399] here at [00:16:45.799] set me back to that 341 [00:16:47.899] subject [00:16:55.399] question technique 341 [00:16:58.600] articles to three [00:17:00.899] very quick very easy [00:17:02.899] to do not from here if I wanted to share [00:17:05.000] with my [00:17:07.000] colleagues I can create [00:17:09.099] a bookmark and copy [00:17:11.400] this bookmark that you are [00:17:13.400] also always be here whenever I swear [00:17:15.700] I sure it'll take everyone back to the same [00:17:17.799] spot or I could pull the sweet [00:17:25.200] I can't send it to Google Drive I have to be at the article [00:17:27.599] level you'll see that two on the right hand side with [00:17:37.200] the larger shirt I'm [00:17:39.400] going to take these bills out because [00:17:41.400] I like that first title [00:17:43.500] and I do want to show you when you click into [00:17:45.900] the cupboard what it looks like you [00:17:48.099] do have about this applications as default it [00:17:50.500] to table contents we had a lot of feedback that [00:17:52.599] that would be more relevant [00:17:54.700] to students and teachers so [00:17:56.700] that's why we changed it we do take the [00:18:07.900] book index is a great way to to find [00:18:09.900] information and it shows you the pages [00:18:12.000] that you're going to find it on or you [00:18:14.099] can quickly jumped using Bells but [00:18:16.099] at the top which [00:18:19.700] is really quite great if you [00:18:21.700] are an educator and you're looking for a specific [00:18:23.799] I know there was some information [00:18:26.400] that [00:18:31.799] was in that title [00:18:35.099] I go to view ebook [00:18:38.400] it gets me that ebooks feel [00:18:40.400] so right now I'm going to [00:18:42.400] drink it down to fit into my browser [00:18:44.400] but I can make it double page if I want [00:18:48.799] every time I reset this if I had [00:18:50.799] to have to shrink it to my browser again I [00:18:53.400] can turn the page [00:18:56.500] just I clicking here I also have the [00:18:58.500] option up here in the upper left but now and [00:19:00.799] these are mobile responsive so you can use [00:19:02.799] it on your tablet on your iPad and [00:19:05.299] a mobile or e-reader [00:19:08.099] if I make it full-screen [00:19:10.500] this is what I get I [00:19:12.500] can also zoom in further and [00:19:15.000] just click and drag and move exactly where [00:19:17.299] I would like it to be so I can do my Quick [00:19:22.500] Escape to go back or in [00:19:24.500] the upper right hand corner it'll [00:19:26.700] minimize my screen again and take me back to [00:19:28.799] the screen I [00:19:32.500] want to go back to view tax because it's toolbox [00:19:34.599] now I have citation tools I am [00:19:36.700] able to download so you could download and [00:19:38.700] read this later if you're looking at them on your on [00:19:40.900] your tablet or your iPad you can download each [00:19:43.099] individual chapter if you want I can print [00:19:45.099] an email them but I go [00:19:47.099] back to the attack I have a variety of different tools [00:19:49.700] you're on the right hand side so [00:19:51.700] here's my citations although the citations will [00:19:53.700] be at the bottom of every single article I [00:19:56.200] have I like to note to self tell you of [00:19:58.299] course it's not hyperlink out yet I [00:20:00.400] can send this to my Google Drive or OneDrive I [00:20:03.299] can print this information off if I want [00:20:05.299] to share it with my colleagues [00:20:07.700] Garrett at a faculty meeting if there's [00:20:09.799] a specific article that I found quite interesting [00:20:12.299] or instead of printing it I [00:20:14.400] could pull it in and [00:20:16.400] all of my teachers are so that's [00:20:20.099] always an option too and that's a creative way [00:20:22.299] to really pull your group together and [00:20:24.500] follow through on a variety of different cats [00:20:32.200] use Google Classroom as an administrator [00:20:34.400] and have everybody prepared [00:20:36.400] and ready when they're coming to that faculty meeting [00:20:38.400] and Son 10 minutes talking about whatever [00:20:40.400] it is you're focusing on that school year [00:20:43.299] just an idea how some of the other schools are [00:20:45.299] using this information I [00:20:47.400] print email download and [00:20:49.700] save to my phone so [00:20:56.000] I could share it right to Twitter and then everybody [00:20:58.099] could access the link that way too so [00:21:01.700] if let's say I'm following you on here in Michigan [00:21:03.900] on following you on Twitter and [00:21:06.200] I feel about some [00:21:08.400] I click into it I can read the article but that's [00:21:10.500] as far as I can go I can't work within your [00:21:12.599] other titles or within your database itself unless [00:21:15.299] I have your password so we [00:21:19.299] don't keep any of this information staying with your Google [00:21:21.400] Drive and Microsoft on when you [00:21:23.400] sign in once you sign out that are [00:21:25.599] close the program itself that [00:21:27.799] form then you will keep that information [00:21:29.900] for your safety you can listen [00:21:32.099] to the Articles you like so [00:21:34.200] if you want to read to you you can listen to it it [00:21:36.200] does start out [00:21:37.700] really loud and then you have the ability [00:21:39.700] to turn on [00:21:41.799] text enhance enhance text [00:21:44.000] visibility so if you [00:21:46.099] turn that on Wednesday what that looks like [00:21:49.200] you have this at the bottom [00:21:53.500] an app that pulls [00:21:55.599] out that count as it's being read to you to [00:22:05.599] put your reading glasses on like I read [00:22:09.000] that text as it's being read to you you [00:22:11.299] can follow along real quick be [00:22:17.500] on your drive into work you have an hour commute download [00:22:19.799] it as an MP3 and listen to [00:22:21.799] it on your Drive-In [00:22:23.299] I had a librarian share that [00:22:25.299] with me and she loves to listen to professional development [00:22:27.799] that way and I thought what a great idea [00:22:29.799] I had [00:22:35.400] to show you this early but you could [00:22:37.500] turn off the text highlighting and just [00:22:39.500] listen to it being read to you you [00:22:41.799] can also slow it down that's [00:22:48.500] where all the settings are [00:22:50.799] When I close is back it also closes [00:22:53.099] all the highlighting by translate [00:22:55.500] the article [00:22:56.900] not only does it translate the entire [00:22:58.900] article but it also translates [00:23:01.599] to listen option so when it's [00:23:03.700] being read to me it will be read in Spanish since I [00:23:05.700] just posted [00:23:10.099] we are up to 40 languages that's [00:23:13.000] the recent Edition [00:23:15.299] and quick fantastic to be honest [00:23:17.500] with you the more they added I just [00:23:19.700] love it I think it's great also what you can do [00:23:21.700] if it's [00:23:27.599] going to ask me I'm on my own computer so it knows [00:23:29.700] the accounts I use the most [00:23:32.900] okay and then it will show up [00:23:35.099] right in my Google Drive and [00:23:37.500] what happens if is [00:23:40.299] it creates [00:23:42.299] what deal does it [00:23:44.500] will create a folder called [00:23:47.000] Gale virtual reference library because we [00:23:49.000] were in here [00:23:53.200] are my articles so I have a few that [00:23:55.200] I stayed cheers my son article [00:23:57.200] right here Canal [00:23:59.500] becomes a workable document [00:24:03.200] another feature I want to show you so I [00:24:05.200] downloaded that article I didn't do anything to it [00:24:07.200] but if I were reading along and [00:24:09.299] I really quite interesting I really [00:24:11.599] want to share this with my colleagues [00:24:13.799] I'm going to drag and [00:24:15.900] I can highlight the text I [00:24:17.900] could add some notes if I want [00:24:23.400] maybe I like a different area [00:24:25.900] learning to do teaching and learning and [00:24:28.799] stem okay like [00:24:31.200] this whole paragraph different [00:24:35.700] color okay [00:24:42.500] so I just waited [00:24:44.500] two different area now [00:24:46.500] and I've added some notes couple [00:24:49.400] things different that can happen I send it to my [00:24:51.400] Google Drive the article [00:24:53.500] will also go into my Google Drive [00:24:55.799] but also happen [00:24:58.099] is I [00:25:02.599] like to notes will transfer to [00:25:05.299] so there's the check that highlighted and [00:25:08.000] then at the very bottom of the article and then scroll [00:25:10.099] down real quick there's a text like highlighted [00:25:12.500] in the notes I've taken [00:25:15.900] what also happens if you have the options [00:25:18.400] we have highlights and notes Here If [00:25:20.500] I click on a typer link out I [00:25:22.500] can view all notes from this area [00:25:24.500] or [00:25:26.700] under the more button [00:25:29.400] by clicking highlights and notes [00:25:32.099] they're here too so I could [00:25:34.099] edit my notes and then from here I can send [00:25:36.599] just the information that I've highlighted in [00:25:38.900] the text I pulled out to my Google [00:25:40.900] Drive or OneDrive ask [00:25:44.299] you throughout your sessions so if [00:25:46.299] you're pulling information different [00:25:48.400] different quotes that you want to use [00:25:50.500] from or different ideas [00:25:52.700] from all sorts of different articles [00:25:55.299] or different ebooks within your collection [00:25:57.400] it'll continuously build out as long [00:25:59.599] as you're in the session as soon as you log [00:26:01.700] out or closed out of the session all this [00:26:03.700] information will be gone so if you're [00:26:05.799] working through a couple documents be [00:26:08.400] sure to go to the more button and [00:26:10.599] do something with your highlighted article [00:26:12.700] section either send it to your Google drive [00:26:14.799] or OneDrive you can print email [00:26:16.900] download all the citations are great [00:26:19.000] because there's your bibliography I'm only one [00:26:21.099] article now [00:26:22.400] I can export that I'm
